Popular as film location for its sheer beauty, for those soapie fans it is the base for the Australian SOAPIE Home & Away.. yes there is a “Summer bAy” It i also about 10 minutes from where I live This shot is also another in my exploration of the HDR technique generated from 4 bracketed shot taken at sunrise

I was having lunch with my beautiful wife the other day at a rather unusual place, right across the road from my office. Never been there before… it was at the Northern Metropolitan Institute of Tafe and they have the special room on the third floor where trainee chefs get to practice their cooking skills and serve to the unsuspecting public. This was the view virtually from the table I was sitting at… the view was way better than the food!

This is a framed 14”x 12” acrylic painting on watercolour cold pressed paper of Long Island at the Whitsundays in Queensland, Australia. My first acrylic painting. Painted to keep the memory alive of a holiday my husband and I took there earlier this year. The sea was calm and sparkling with the sun’s reflection, and the day was warm and peaceful. If I made a seachange from the country this is where it would be to. This is nature at its best! Memories linger of times gone by / of sparkling seas and beautiful skies / lazy days of holding hands / love in our eyes and golden sands / never to be forgotten always near / forever treasured and held so dear FEATURED IN / ALPHABET SOUP

This dike was formed from underground faults and intersecting joint lines and can be found in many areas at Joshua Tree National Park. This photograph was taken across the road from the area known as Jumbo Rocks. Some information about Joshua tree: As erosion worked its way through this area it caused intusive splitting of the rocks which have become known as joints or dikes. Good examples of the joint system may be seen at Jumbo Rocks, Wonderland of Rocks, and Split Rock. Flash floods were believed to have caused erosion as they washed away the surface and left huge boulders which settled on top of each other. These are known as rockpiles. If you look carefully you can find a rockpile with a dike line like the one in this photograph and Joshua Tree National park has great expansive views making it very easy to create a nice photograph.
