Background Information: / Tofino is a village of about 1,650 residents on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, located at the western terminus of Highway 4. It is located at the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, and is thus a part of Clayoquot Sound. Islands in the vicinity include Meares, Vargas and Flores. Lone Cone on Meares Island is an extinct volcano. Tofino and the nearby town of Ucluelet are the closest towns to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The settlement of Tofino first acquired the name in 1909 with the opening of the Tofino Post Office, named in association with Tofino Inlet nearby. Tofino Inlet was named in 1792 by the Spanish commanders Galiano and Valdés, in honor of Admiral Vicente Tofiño, under whom Galiano had learned cartography. A popular tourist destination in the summer, Tofino’s population swells to many times its winter size. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature. In the winter it is not as bustling, however, many people visit Tofino and the west coast to watch storms on the water. Close to Tofino is Long Beach, a scenic and popular year-round destination, at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Nearby Maquinna Marine Provincial Park, with its natural hot springs, is located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Tofino and is also a popular day-trip destination for tourists although it is only reachable by boat or float plane. • Sunset at the Curracurrang, just south of Wattamolla, Royal National Park. This is a wild and very rugged section of the Park with amazing rock formations and striations, none of which you can see here because it’s late dusk. But this evening had one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve seen here in the Park. I don’t know why but good sunsets here are few and far between but when they come – carumba! / The sea wash looked pearl-like against an opalescent sky with the cliffs stringing in between like a necklace. Whoops, waxing lyrical, better stop. Two blended exposures – one for the sky and one for everything else. Taken with the old Canon 30D / Tv: 1.6secs and 1/4sec / Av: f/8 / ISO: 100 / FL: 28mm

  • Music to go with the view! Enjoy & thank you for viewing! / Taken from the waterfront in Port Hardy, BC on Vancouver Island! / / /

  • This shot was approx 8 minutes @ f8, ISO 200 with ND4 grad filter. / Taken about half an hour before sunrise at Sandgate, Qld. / I calculated the exposure by taking a shot at f4 ISO 3200 and multiplying it out.

  • A golden moment in between two early morning, rather severe rainstorms near Bellbrae, on The Great Ocean Road. Genesis 9:11-17 (New King James Version) / 11 Thus I establish My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” / 12 And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13 I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14 It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; 15 and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.” God’s Promise to Noah, after The Great Flood !! Pentax K20D Camera. – 1/125sec @ f11. ISO 200 / Edited in ACDSee Pro3.

  • Taking time off from the game we call Life can be pretty valuable. I think it is good as a recharging time before getting back into the mix. For Life is not an individual sport, but a team activity. But even the superstar needs some time to rest on the sideline. (Taken in Malibu California (Rock Creek State Park) in the middle of a night with a full moon. A flashlight was used for some detail painting, but otherwise it is just ambient light. The camera used was a D300 using a Nikkor 17-55 f2.8 lens.
