Raukokore Anglican Church sits on a lone promontory on the East Cape of New Zealand’s north island. this was a pretty long exposure about 45min. it was a massive storm that hit the coast and as it moved out to sea i procedeed to take some exposures. not very many though due to their length.

Nakalele Blowhole truly a miracle of nature. A shelf of lava rock on the north shore of Maui eroded by the punishing sea until the waves created a vent that spews like a geyser off and on and when the llight of late afternoon hits the spray the miracle of rainbow color becomes apparent.

Going back to places I have been over and over before. Different tides reveal formations not seen before which is an incentive to visit the place over and over again…I am now looking forward to the low pressure system currently developing…interesting days ahead

Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps

Happy New Year everyone! This shot was taken at the Sunshine Coast just before Christmas 2007….well it’s an old shot isn’t it. Taken with my Canon 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. No Filter has been used but I did some fake HDR processing (single shot) using Dynamic Photo HDR. It’s a fun program and a great alternative to Photomatix.

The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site

The day summer arrived and it got stinking hot. This shot was taken at 5am and not a cloud in sight. The days temperature climbed up to 40.2°C in Brisbane. Summer is over is just over a week. This morning was certainly what I would expect in winter, crisp, vibrant and cloudless. Keep it coming…love it

This berg was as big as a house! We were bobbing around in a little lifeboat so we could be close to these and get some photos. Our main ship, the Skorpios III, although happy to plough through ice flows would not venture closer than 1 kilometre to the glacier face. The glacier in the background is the Pope Pio XI, the largest glacier (I think) in South America. Southern Patagonia, Chile.

The Old Salt Barn on Ka’ono’ulu Ranch is fixin’ to fall down any day now, the owner told me. And so I made this old building my priority. Shooting HDR style, was able to capture the full glory of the UpCountry Maui sunset.

On July 21, 2009 this image was featured in the ImageWriting group. On April 22, 2009 this image won the California Challenge in the American Southwest Group. On April 1, 2009 this image won the Black & White Challenge in the Retired & Happy group. This image placed third in the Best Treatment challenge in December ‘08. The Golden Gate Bridge was barely visible in this dense morning fog. From a cliff overlooking the bay, the pillar was visible as well as a misty outline of the San Francisco skyline. Built in 1933, the bridge was completed 5 years later in 1937. It is a part of US Highway 101 and State Route 1, and is the only road to exit San Francisco to the north. A bit of trivia: The suspension bridge is 8,981 feet in length and is 200+ feet above the water. It has a total of approximately 1.2 million rivets holding it together. Multnomah Falls, Oregon, USA, Taken Summer Vacation 2007 Multnomah Falls is a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge, located east of Troutdale, between Corbett and Dodson, along the Historic Columbia River Highway. The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet (165 m) and a lower falls of 69 feet (21 m), with a gradual 9 foot (3 m) drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet (189 m). Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the State of Oregon. / The Multnomah Creek Bridge on the Historic Columbia River Highway. / Colorized picture of the waterfall before the footbridge was addedUnderground springs from Larch Mountain are the year-round source of water for the waterfall, augmented by spring runoff from the mountain’s snowpack and rainwater during the other seasons. A foot trail leads to Benson Footbridge, a 45-foot (14 m)-long footbridge that allows visitors to cross 105 feet (32 m) above the lower cascade. The trail continues to a platform at the top of the upper falls, the Larch Mountain Lookout, where visitors get a bird’s-eye view of the Columbia Gorge and also of “Little Multnomah”, a small cascade slightly upstream from the “upper” falls, which is not visible from ground level. Ward Beach, Marlborough, South Island New Zealand at sunrise Nikon D200 with 17-55mm f2.8 nikon lens with tripod standing on the limestone rock formations, waited for about half an hour for the right wave to create the pattern without crashing over the rocks and disturbing the tripod, I got very wet trying to get this photo (not that that is unusual, I always seem to end up getting wet in my pursuit of interesting images) I hope you like the photo.

Seascape of Yaquina Head LIghthouse This was the view from my hotel room in Newport, Oregon this last week. Taken with my Nikon D80 Nikkor 70-300mm VR Lens “My soul is full of longing / For the secret of the sea, / And the heart of the great ocean / sens a thrilling pulse through me.” / Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Quote found by Billfox256 MY CONNECTION WITH THIS LIGHTHOUSE: I first saw Yaquina Head in 2004. We were taking a road trip – our first vacation in many years—out to see Oregon and the redwoods for the first time. I was alive, and celebrating my life. Two years before I had been in a long coma, on a ventilator and near death for four months. When I finally woke up, I had to learn many things over again… how to wash my face, brush my teeth, feed myself. Eventually I learned to walk again. When I saw this lighthouse I knew I wanted to see it from the inside, and from the top, looking out to the ocean. I climbed all those narrow, spiral steps to the lens room at a time in my life when it was still difficult to get in and out of the car, let alone climb a nine story lighthouse. It was a moment of personal victory for me, an affirmation that I would make it.
