  • Eilean Donan Castle, winter 2007

  • Romance depicting heroic or marvelous deeds, pageantry, romantic exploits etc Eilean Donan castle bathing in the early afternoon light _As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most important attractions in the Scottish highlands. Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries. Partially destroyed in a Jacobite uprising in 1719, Eilean Donan lay in ruins for the best part of 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap bought the island in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castle to its former glory. After 20 years of toil and labour the castle was re-opened in 1932_ / http://www.eileandonancastle.com/

  • Isle of Skye, February 2007 :)

  • A major early snow storm blanketed the Cascade Mountains. A small lake nearly froze over by winter cold offers a bit of a reflection as Mt. Rainier looms in the background capped by a lenticular cloud cap. A pristine view one can linger on if you can stand the cold.

  • Love this little lone tree. Trying to capture every season…have winter and fall so far. Somehow I missed summer and spring….next year maybe? 1st place in the Calendars R Us Challenge and Featured on the Red Bubble Home Page.

  • This wonderful oak tree is located in the foothills of the Tehachapi Mountains in Southern California. All the original limbs have been broken off by the snow loads of winter storms. The present limbs were regrown over the years. Photo taken during a blowing snowstorm.

  • One must suffer for your art correct? Well this might fit, I headed out this cold December dawn a year ago with temps at -5 and windchill at -30. A bit chilly and I learned that if you take a glove and grab a metal tripod leg your hand will stick at least for a few moments. I hope the image was worth it! The frozen surface of Mud Lake just after dawn one cold winter morning. The long shadows of the tree stumps making eerie lines across the ice and skiff of snow on top.

  • Taken in Rivington near the Rivington Barn in Lancashire! This photograph in my portfolio had so far 19462 views and 64 favored and many comments by far! • Have you ever looked at something and thought ahhh a capture some day. Today was the day of the first attempt. It was a freaking blizzard out. High winds out in the country in my area the farmers call windswept. I headed into town for brunch at the pub. The roads were clear if you call two feet of snow in the good parts clear. High winds.. no courage to go to the tree. So after a good brunch and a few shots of whiskey neat style. I came back home.. I felt daring. Pushing snow with a big four wheel drive truck I went. There it was.. I fell in love. Out in the winds with the snow blowing hard I set the camera on a bean bag my wife made me for this purpose. Focus , Light , Frame, Oh God please.. Here is the first one. Maybe more. When a new sky appears.. storms or sunset we shall see.. I hope you find it in your heart to view large. I do so love you all on RB.. / Chuck This was taken a few miles east of Allegan, Michigan USA This Was Written By Ari..( Aritheeagle ) Thank You Can you tell?
