In Cappadocia, a local vendor covered this old branch with evil eye beads. His shop sits on a hill above the village of Uçhisar castle, carved into the volcanic tuff of the region. The evil eye beads I remember from my time in Turkey had yellow in them, unlike most of the ones we saw during our journey. They became talismans to conquer what ancient civilizations feared, such as nighttime dark, storms, earthquakes and eclipses. The blue symbolizes the sky, the white is the aura of the moon, the yellow is the sun disc, and the black spot in the middle is that little bit of evil eating away at the light. In Turkey, the belief is that evil eye beads ward off the effects of the “evil eye,” such as envy or jealousy, and bounce back any curses or ill will. You will see an evil eye bead pinned to the clothing of an infant, hanging from the rear view mirror of a vehicle, decorating the harness of a horse, painted on the back of a big truck/lorry, placed over a doorway… If it breaks, you can grin and throw it away; it has done its job!

I took this picture on the steepest island of the world…La Palma (canarian islands). Although it’s the steepest island of the world it’s very rare that it’s snowy on top of the biggest vulcanic mountain. / It was a lucky week so I drove all the way up to the “Roche De Los Muchachos”>>> / (3000 metres high). Shortly before I reached the top a little cave caught my attention. / I went inside and discovered beautiful, thick icicles. Autumn Travels Shot in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado What a scene that just glowed…and I mean GLOWED. It made your jaw just drop open. I am fortunate in that no one else was there, and was lucky to be able to take about 100 shots of this scene alone, playing with composition and such, and custom white balance settings, and in this one, something similar to a sunset setting was used. Grace looks at me with eyes of love and hope, as we explain to her that we will get medicines that will make her better. Grace is very ill and has intestinal worms. Here in developed countries If a child is sick with worms, a doctor will provide medicines to cure that child. they will get the best treatment possible. But in Tunga/Zuga, there is no Doctor and the nearest hospital is a grueling 40plus miles away. even then if the family has no money, the child will be refused treatment, except on rare occasions. Many Children here die from worm infection mainly caused by drinking polluted water. When the well dries up there is no choice. Thanks to your Prayers and financial donations. PLEASE READ THIS. Taken in remote Nigeria. I and the team were waiting for the ferry to cross then Nile and continue our long journey to Tunga Zuga Village in kebbe state. Often my work as a missionary, working with extreme poor and sick children can be very emotional.Tears of sorrow and heartbreak, desperation and frustration overwhelm me as I and the small mission team do what we can with the little we have to help. yet there are times like this one when there is joy and happiness as I see people and scenes of great beauty. Truly God has blessed me with a wonderful life. I have never had the joy of owning my own home, or having a nice car or wealth. yet I am so happy to have a relationship with Jesus.God supplies all my needs, and I have travelled with God to many villages and he has blessed many. Life is more than a job,Career, wealth or designer cloths. Life is living in Gods presence everyday and experiencing his love and peace. Life for me is doing what is in Gods heart and that is helping the extreme poor. My Inspiration and passion is from God. I Live for him and he lives through me. I have been on mission and not a penny in my pocket,yet my heavenly father has met my needs,concerning Food,lodging, travel and covered all expenses. One one occasion, he sent an angel to pay my hotel bill. While in India The Lord moved me so much to travel overnight on a train, a day early to return to London. If I had not obeyed his leading, I would have been killed in a terrorist bombing. Its a wonderful Life with God. My greeting when I visited a Masai village alone. They were wonderful people, I will never forget them. / The light was very intense, and highlighted the vivid colours of their colourful costumes. Many of them still observe the old customs and maintain the traditional way of life. Saint Mary’s Lake is in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. I believe I was rather lucky to get such a calm day as I witnessed here, since I was told that for quite some weeks they had been experiencing unusually bad weather for the time of year ! Glacier is an amazing place, with its primeval mountain shapes, and abundant wildlife, lakes and waterfalls, and many good trails. I was hearing the Elk bugling across the lake as I shot. I would recommend this magic place to anyone ! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, polarising filter, f22, 1/30 sec, iso 100, auto WB, Raw file, processed in Adobe CS3, selective levels/curves and selective colour adjustments. This is the Isle of Skye at it’s best, when there is a lot of colour in the landcsape, with the low sun we get this far North at this time of year, accentuating every detail. / This is the crofting community of Tarskavaig, with the glorious backdrop of the Cuillin Hills. / “Crofting” is small time farming, or “smallholding” where a few crops might be grown, and a small number of cattle or sheep kept. Kyleakin is the first village encountered on the Isle of Skye, when you cross over the bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh…....this is where the old Ferry boat used to land, which I don’t miss at all, romantic it might be, but darned inconvenient !! / The old ruin you can see behind the boats is Castle Moil…......a few facts for you….... “The 14th Century Castle Moil has had many names in its long history. Also known as Dun Akyn (Norse for Hakon’s Fort) and An Caisteal Maol in Gaelic, it is now a romantic ruin. Sited at the Skye end of the road bridge in the village of Kyleakin, the castle has Norse connections. Legend has it that a Norwegian princess, otherwise known as “Saucy Mary”, ordered a chain to be hung from the castle to the mainland so that no boat could pass without paying a tax.” / Nothing new under the sun then, eh ??!! LOL !!
