This beautiful stormy scene presented itself as I was overlooking the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. (If you look closely, you can see the Kissing Camels near the lower right-hand corner.) Hard to imagine it’s in the middle of a huge city. Update 20-June: Exciting news! This photo was chosen to be published in Gaia – The Living Planet, a book compiled of imagery and poetry from within the RB community. I’m so excited to receive my copy in the mail soon!

The day summer arrived and it got stinking hot. This shot was taken at 5am and not a cloud in sight. The days temperature climbed up to 40.2°C in Brisbane. Summer is over is just over a week. This morning was certainly what I would expect in winter, crisp, vibrant and cloudless. Keep it coming…love it

A storm had just passed over Watkins Glen and the warm sun was breaking through the misty air in the glen. Watkins Glen State Park is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, at the southern end of Seneca Lake. This image was captured with a Canon EOS DSLR / Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens. The focal length was 21mm, ISO was set at 400 with an f/8 aperture and shutter speed of 1/30 sec. Black glass magic – I had gone on this shoot with a bad attitude, expecting the sky to be bland and the day to be a waste of time, and therefore I set the camera on large jpg so I wouldn’t waste too much computer space….As it turned out, I’ve managed to drag out some amazing results. This is another straight from the camera image, although I had to take it into PS to straighten the horizon…. Canon 5D Mk II, 16-35mm at 16mm, f/10, 90seconds, ISO 50, Hoya NDX400, Singh Ray 3 stop reverse grad, Lee 0.9 ND grad, tripod, cable release, lots of guessing….I should point out the red sky is enhanced by the Singh Ray filter, which seems to put a colour cast across the ND area when used in conjunction with the Lee filter…. - / SEASCAPES / NEW ZEALAND / PEOPLE
