On a frosty june morning I found myself to the top of a local range near Geranium in the Souther Mallee looking at one of the most brilliant sunrise’s I have ever seen. The warm glow of the sun across the clouds and the shifting light made me forget about the the freezing temperatures I was working in.
This image was taken @ Port Willunga at the remains of the old jetty. On a recent journey back to Port Willunga recently, I’d noticed that many of these posts had been burnt. A fun stunt at the time I suppose :( Best viewed on a black background. Images from Australia / Architecture / Images from Japan / Sunsets / Water Scenes

I do love having a small patch of Blue Mountains sub tropical rainforest within 15 minutes walk from my house in Hazelbrook…..
I am lucky enough to live right next to a forest so I took the kids bush walking and got this photo of the sunset through the long grass.. I just really liked the golden tones and I had a different grass image but have taken it down and replaced it with this one.
/ My ‘First Tree’ is officially published in the coffee table book Artists of the West / For information on purchasing a signed copy of the book, go to Carrie Glenn Studios Thanks! First Tree was Featured in Lifestyles Magazine as part of an article about the Artists of the West coffee table book I am also honored to announce my painting First Tree was a part of the Rialto Towers two week art exhibit in Melbourne, Australia in of July 2007 Acrylic and pastel on illustration paper. (1995) This is truly the first tree I ever painted, the need to paint and create was something brewing so strongly inside I had to do something about it. Yet my resources were very limited, I grabbed the only paint I had any access to, a can of my father’s black spray paint, I sprayed it into the lid of the can and used the only paintbrush I owned a cheep nylon brush from a water color kit and created. I then finished my work with the only two pastels I owned brown and black. / Necessity is the mother of invention, or maybe it’s that there is more than one way to skin a cat. (Sorry cat lovers) At any rate I grew up in a home with very few luxuries but I did have a passion to create, always, I had to feed the creativity. So this is a very special piece to me and I hope to you as well. Down through the dark trees, you came and saved me... Dawn at Garie Beach, Royal National Park just south of Sydney, Australia. A seagull very obligingly flew into shot as I was taking this. Can you spot the silhouetted fishermen? / I’m lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen – it’s only a little national park (14,000 ha) but the variety of stuff to photograph is simply endlessly inspiring. Unfortunately the skies here in the desert are mostly hazy and full of sand and dust! There are not too many days when there are clear horizons with clouds, and to be able to catch a sunrise like this was just excellent! Located in Libya towards the Algerian border. / /
