  • An abstract view of our journey along the river of time. The different sides of the river show opposing but complementary forces that change the direction of the flow. You can think of each side as any pair of opposites, like yin and yang, although the forces should also be considered complementary in nature. This actually resulted from some visualisation work I was doing with stock market data. I was modelling a 3D landscape to analyse short-term temporal patterns in depth of market data. The buyers (bids) were represented on the left and the sellers (asks) on the right. Predicting the direction of the river was useful if you want to know the direction of the market. The landscape was designed to be animated in real time using an online data feed of stock prices. Although this display had a specific purpose I realised the metaphor was more generic in nature and so I painted this abstracted version so I could muse a little about about the hills of chaos along the river of time.

  • Lightning thunderstom 06.15.09. Many lightning strikes on McIntosh Lake. Boulder County, Colorado. Striking Photography by Bo Insogna www.TheLightningMan.com

  • Sepia Print. Boulder County Lightning Thunderstorm 08.05.09 10:42pm. Lightning stiking above the front range foothills and McIntosh lake. This is a layered image equal to a one minute exposure. Fact: A motor car with a metal top can offer you some protection—but keep your hands from the metal sides. An umbrella can increase your chances of being struck by lightning if it makes you the tallest object in the area. Always avoid being the highest object anywhere—or taking shelter near or under the highest object, including tall trees. Avoid being near a lightning rod or standing near metal objects such as a fence or underground pipes. http://www.TheLightningMan.com
