This photo was taken in Antelope Canyon, which is in northern Arizona, USA. Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon, carved out of sandstone by monsoon rains. The rays of the sun only enter the canyon during certain times of the year, and only in the middle of the day. Rays like these are uncommon, and are best seen on a windy day. This was such an incredible gift from God. It reminds me of the fact that I couldn’t make art at all if it were not for His gifts: the beauty of the world, light, and the passion and desire on my part. To make this image, I traveled hundreds of miles from home, to a place that I had longed to visit for years, at a time of the year when I felt I would see rays. I had gone through the entire canyon, and it seemed as if when I got to a place where there was a ray, it had already largely faded. I was disheartened, and as at the entrance when I saw a group of people, and a photographer with a tripod set up. I turned around to see what he was photographing, and this is what I saw! The sand in the air that day wrecked two camera bodies, but it was SOOO worth it! This is the photo that has attracted the most attention to my work and also my all-time favorite. It is hard to find a scene that inspires me like this one, but I hope someday my photography in general will measure up to this one photo.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. The day summer arrived and it got stinking hot. This shot was taken at 5am and not a cloud in sight. The days temperature climbed up to 40.2°C in Brisbane. Summer is over is just over a week. This morning was certainly what I would expect in winter, crisp, vibrant and cloudless. Keep it coming…love it

The floor is largely Cutler Red siltstone or its sand deposited by the meandering rivers that carved the valley. The valley’s vivid red color comes from iron oxide exposed in the weathered siltstone. Antelope island is the largest of the Great Salt Lake’s 10 islands. From the mainland, its 28,022 acres appear barren and deserted. But Antelope Island is home to a variety of flora and fauna native to the Great Basin region. This is a great place to view wildlife. The island was without its namesake antelope for many years, but they were reintroduced in 1993 and can now be seen in many areas of the park. Deer, bobcats, coyotes, many varieties of birds and waterfowl also call the island home. But most famous are Antelope Island’s American Bison, introduced to the island in 1893 and now numbering some 600 animals

I love rainy, overcast, windy days. Someone has to, I suppose. The pink/purple of the fireweed has yet to reach its full splendor. As Alaskan legend has it, when fireweed blooms all the way to the top of its spire – the six-week countdown to winter begins. Some of us can hardly wait. It felt great to get out in the elements! This is an HDR image (+/-3 EV) taken with a Nikon D200. F22 / Processed in Photomatix Pro and edited in Photoshop CS4. It is best viewed larger. I shot the image for the challenge that Richard and Irene have set in the B/W group.’England as Seen in B/W. But as always, I have not yet found the courage to loose the beautiful colours. But I am so pleased that we made the effort to go. It is a stunning location, with its Enchanted Forest and wonderful gardens. Groomsbridge Place is the fictional home of the Bennet family in the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice. It is a moated manor house, near Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The house, built in 1662, is also featured as ‘Birlstone Manor’ in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes mystery The Valley of Fear. Groombridge was also the estate seen in Peter Greenaway’s elegant 1982 mystery The Draughtsman’s Contract.
