Just driving around one night after work amazed by the reflection of the sun off the wheat stalks :)

Hiking down Havasu Creek.
One must suffer for your art correct? Well this might fit, I headed out this cold December dawn a year ago with temps at -5 and windchill at -30. A bit chilly and I learned that if you take a glove and grab a metal tripod leg your hand will stick at least for a few moments. I hope the image was worth it! The frozen surface of Mud Lake just after dawn one cold winter morning. The long shadows of the tree stumps making eerie lines across the ice and skiff of snow on top.
This beautiful stormy scene presented itself as I was overlooking the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. (If you look closely, you can see the Kissing Camels near the lower right-hand corner.) Hard to imagine it’s in the middle of a huge city. Update 20-June: Exciting news! This photo was chosen to be published in Gaia – The Living Planet, a book compiled of imagery and poetry from within the RB community. I’m so excited to receive my copy in the mail soon!

WHat particularly drew me to this scene were the patterns of light and shadow on the rocks and leaves. Taken on an Autumn afternoon in Jacob’s Fork River, South Mountain State Park, NC. Figuring out a way to get from one slippery and mossy rock to another in order to take the photo was a real challenge too-especially carrying tripod and camera equipment. / Nikon D50, 42mm,F22 ,2 sec / viewed 937 times as of 11/06/09 / /

This image of the Right Mitten framed in between two rocks shows the shadow of the Left Mitten falling across it. The Sky was doing some amazing things behind me and I noticed that most people had truned for the sunset. I steedfast remained shooting into the park. The change in colour taking place in the Valley as the sunset came closer was amazing. The right rock is slightly burned in but I am not one to play in Layers. This is a 3 image HDR given only a slight adjustment. The resulting image was then processed in CS3 with a slight adjustment to straighten the horizion and curves to add a little extra contrast. All 3 images to make the HDR were shot with a Nikon D70 Featured in That One Great Shot / Featured in Top Shelf Wildlife & Nature Art ! / Featured in Mornings and Evenings / Featured in American Southwest / Featured in Dimensions 588 views on the 5th Nov 2009
My Website Been away for a few days and managed to shoot some landscapes. / Sorry for not catching up with everyone’s work but will try to catch up over the next day or so :) Solitude Standing Solitude stands by the window / She turns her head as I walk in the room / I can see by her eyes she’s been waiting / Standing in the slant of the late afternoon And she turns to me with her hand extended / Her palm is split with a flower with a flame Solitude stands in the doorway / And I’m struck once again by her black silhouette / By her long cool stare and her silence / I suddenly remember each time we’ve met And she turns to me with her hand extended / Her palm is split with a flower with a flame And she says “I’ve come to set a twisted thing straight” / And she says “I’ve come to lighten this dark heart” / And she takes my wrist, I feel her imprint of fear / And I say “I’ve never thought of finding you here” I turn to the crowd as they’re watching / They’re sitting all together in the dark in the warm / I wanted to be in there among them / I see how their eyes are gathered into one And then she turns to me with her hand extended / Her palm is split with a flower with a flame And she says “I’ve come to set a twisted thing straight” / And she says”l’ve come to lighten this dark heart” / And she takes my wrist, I feel her imprint of fear / And I say “I’ve never thought of finding you here” Solitude stands in the doorway / And I’m struck once again by her black silhouette / By her long cool stare and her silence / I suddenly remember each time we’ve met And she turns to me with her hand extended / Her palm is split with a flower with a flame Suzanne Vega
My Website This is for my son and his beautiful fiance (pictured) Things Can Only Get Better You can walk my path, you can wear my shoes / Learn to talk like me and be an angel too / But maybe you ain’t never gonna feel this way / You ain’t never gonna know me, but i know you / I’m singing it now- / Things can only get better / They can only get better if we see it through- / that means me and I mean you too / So teach me now that things can only get better, / They can only get, they only get, take it on from here / You know i know that things can only get better I sometimes lose myself in me, I lose track of time / And I can’t see the wood for the trees / You set them alight / burning bridges as you’ve gone / I’m too weak to fight ya / I’ve got my personal hell to deal with, then you say / Walk my path, wear my shoes, talk like that- / I’ll be an angel then / Things can only get better / they can only get better, now i found you / Things can only get better, they can only get better, / now I found you / and you and you / You have shown me prejudice and greed / And you’ve shown me how I must learn to deal with this disease / I look at things now in a different light than I did before / And I’ve found the cause / and I think you can be my cure / So teach me to… / Walk your path, wear your shoes, talk like that, I’ll be an angel and / Things can only get better…....
