I was playing around with a sunset photo I had taken, when I got the idea for a planet similar to Earth, populated with humanoid type creatures who find something to grumble about regardless of the situation. Their conversation might go something like: I can’t believe it Zhrikplatth, that’s the third time this Dasnuba that the skyhop has been late. Keep your veins in, Krryp, at least we can enjoy another methane sunset while we wait.
Swisher did not agree with the council and ignoring their findings, decided to free the Crozog and her cub. After all, what harm could there really be. Old Whisper face in the council probably made up most of what he had heard anyway… I was playing with pencil concept sketches of vistas monsters and high speed movement, when this image took shape. I loved “Flip McCoy the Rocket boy”, as a child and Swisher was inspired by my early memories of this boy with a rocket belt.
I don’t use acrylic very much, mainly when I’m using an airbrush. I felt the urge to do another space scene and just had to get it out of the system. I shall now calm down and go back to landscapes, portraits and cartoons. If those life-forms are welcoming humans to their planet, I wonder if they know what they’re letting themsleves in for…apart from the common cold! acrylic and board.

Finding The Lost Civilization of Reimini Day 17…. / Finding the lost civilization of Reimini was the most treacherous trek we had ever made in our 22 yrs of archaeology. We lost many along the way but when we arrived we were astonished at the architectural design and still standing structures. It appeared to be preserved by the icy colds of the mountainous range of Reimite in the southern hemisphere. Strange devices and tools were found unlike any mankind had used in history. It was almost alien like until we found a skeleton of what we hoped was a native to this era. The bones were similar to our own but the abdominal cavity showed traces of what appeared to have been 2 stomaches. Upon further examination 2 hearts once occupied this individual. My husband and I had first heard of the Reimini by an old ex-C.I.A. agent who specialized in covert ops. He was sent to the region some 16 yrs ago to retrieve a box from the location, he never opened it. But kept a map of the location all these years and told us he saw strange things their and structures unlike any built in the last 2000 yrs. Image & Text Copyright © 2008 Lisa Weber. Most life-forms follow a prescribed set of instructions we call instinct. Mankind differs in using his imagination. He has a consuming passion for exploring his world and imagining what others could be like. We’ve taken our first tentative steps in venturing from Earth and put men on the Moon. We are now sending probes to find out as much as we can to our Solar system neighbours with the drive that some day we can go there too. We still have no proof that there is life elsewhere than here on Earth. Are we totally alone in the universe where there are untold billions of galaxies? For the moment we can only wait – and use our imagination. Space art had become very popular and many artist have shown us their ideas on what might be possible. i hope my paintings will be an acceptable contribution to the genre, albeit with a touch of humour here and there.
These three are a series based on bunny’s Dawning of a New Day fractal. The flat art is converted into a 3D terrain object in Vue Esprit. The technique is shown here, first the original: then the conversion piece, which is like a continent itself: Then It’s time to put on my hiking boots and find the most interesting places on this little world….

Another collaboration with Owlspook’s outrageous fractal And Let There Be Light shown here: Converted 2 ways into digital elevation maps in Vue Esprit, the fun begins as I put on my tiny hiking boots and my teensy camera to locate the best shots of this new world: The textures and light and atmosphere come next, and any props, then much trial and error, and many hours of rendering time. / And, as a bonus, just a little something that sounds appropriate from Pink Floyd: Let There Be More Light

This is digital artwork (2009.) from my series “Transcendent”.
A collaboration with Jenland and her fractal Amethyst Goddess, this one is so dramatic, it’s an architectural statement I can’t stop studying, in fact you tell me – is it a temple or is it a ship? Jen’s artwork here: Converts to this large continent, which I explored for hours, setting up 8 shots: ...which became 5 renderings, and you’re seeing the best 3 images. Whatcha think, Jen?!

This is a collaboration with Jenland’s Daily Tau – Moon image as the source: and after I moved some of the elements around, and added a couple others, converted into this: How better to study the moon than from a crystal topped tower on top of a giant moon Tau?! Hope you like, Jen!!
This is a collection of fantastic landscapes and places, created in digital 3D programs, other worlds and places unseen before, strange beauty for your enjoyment.
We now know it is good fortune to run across a Mook, the largest inhabitant of this planet, about the size of a small villiage, and they’re fascinated with all humans much like Earth’s whales and dolphins are. / The first encounter with a Mook was by a crew member who’d fallen into a very deep crevasse, injured, and the Mook had gently pulled him to safety, then proceeded to softly “pat” our survivor on the head and shoulders while sending out a low frequency sonar-type signal. Later our crew member described “fear was quickly replaced by a feeling of well being and comfort, and being petted by such a giant creature resembled being tapped lightly with a balloon animal”. / Since then we have learned Mooks munch on the lichens, float in the sunlight doing a kind of photosynthesis, and they are always attracted to human activities. Also, if you give one a marshmallow, it’ll follow you around like a puppy. We like Mooks, they like us. Bunny’s lovely original fractal Elegance of Light: and the converted terrain object:
The planet Eleganz, named by expedition leader Captain Krause, is a beautiful striated world covered with colorful plant life similar to corals and lichens that grow in fantastic colonies at the base of the strange thin curved ridges that soar vertically thousands of meters high. The atmosphere is mostly Earth normal, if not a little oxygen-rich, and somewhat lighter in gravity. Most of the planet’s water is below ground, the weather so far has been mild, even the storms, which have been described as “soft tornadoes”. Bunny’s lovely original fractal Elegance of Light: and the converted terrain object:
We didn’t see these structures all day, because they assembled themselves just at sunset, on most of the islands, all facing the sun, and then they started to play music. Not random sounds, but like an orchestra of bells, flutes, chimes and percussion, all playing the same song in incredible harmony. All the activity around us stopped, and every creature and human just listened, until the sun finally dipped below the horizon, and it was off to sleep for one and all. You could just barely hear the musical towers taking themselves apart, like stage hands after a concert. / Below, you’ll see one of my favorites, a lifter/transporter made up of smaller beings: He was scurrying on multiple legs through the shrubs, and carrying what looked like a large yellow water balloon. He stopped at our approach, looked us over, held still for this picture, then was on his way. We never found out what he was carrying, probably moisture for some plant, or maybe he’ll throw it at somebody! / It’s time to go for now, we haven’t even begun to catalog and identify all the beings that make up the inhabitants here, there are so many, and you won’t BELIEVE what lives in the water… So, until we see you next voyage: Blast off safely!
This was our away-team’s first look at the chosen exploration site, a beautiful chain of small islands in the southern hemisphere of this peaceful water world. / From orbit we had already learned quite a bit about the amazing life forms inhabiting the islands of Gloss, the first amazing fact is that there is no “food chain”, these silicon-based critters absorbed their nutrition from the sun, air, soil, and water, and therefore live in harmony without domination or competition. / The second amazing fact is their symbiotic relationship with each other and their environment; many of the smaller creatures literally join themselves together and with other forms to become like another creature, perform tasks as a team, then disassemble and move on to other work. There is a level of communication among all these life forms that’s often audible as musical twitters and electronic squeaks, bass notes, burbles and just about every other sound effect you can imagine, the overall effect is quite humorous, especially observing the ant-like industry with which all these creatures perform their chores. / Please follow along as I document the highlights of this memorable exploration. All images in this series are based on the beautiful fractal Once In A Dream by Owlspook: Here is the converted elevation map where it all started:
Robort is thoroughly enjoying himself, trying out his new pedal powered flying machine, I hope he read the instructions, as it appears he is about to land.
The first stage of the terraformation of the planet, Ioloscerai, has been completed with the new topography unmistakably resembling the old planet Earth. Seen here is a rooftop shot looking past the tower of the newly completed Grand Hotel towards the Nepean Mountains. / Construction of the new city of Technopolis, some one hundred kilometres from our present position, is now complete. More to follow as Stage Two is completed. / Bookings for the 300-room hotel are still a little difficult to secure but should be right by the end of the present month. / It was agreed, after a lot of debate, to leave the old Ioloescerain moons in their original orbits even though, obviously, they don’t quite fit the Earth replication. Created in Artmatic Voyager with original photographic elements (tower, roofs and cloud) except for the moons, which again, are courtesy of NASA. Crescents and figures created in GroBoto.
P.O.M. = Pyramids on Mars I’ve always been intrigued by the photos of what appears to be “pyramids” on the surface of Mars, and when I did this piece that’s the first thing that came into my thoughts. I used what appears to be some kind of boiler furnace on a property where an old house burnt down and now there is just part of an old foundation and fireplace and this strange pink tower. Someone on the trail told me that this tower was once painted blue..I combined a few different layers, one layer being a photo taken during the most recent batch of forest fires that happened in Ashland, Oregon this past Summer 2009. It has been pointed out that this piece looks strikingly similar to mine tailings that litter the Olympic Opal Field on the outskirts of the South Australian mining town of Coober Pedy.
