  • “The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. Let me know what ya all think! / —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • Now, here is a good story….I was out photographing some old buildings on a rustic Norwegian farm one sunny spring morning and my eye caught these old wool long johns flying in the wind on the clothesline. I stopped in my tracks…fascinated by the sight. All I could think of was how they looked like they were dancing with joy – happy to finally be set free out in the fresh spring air. It took me a lot of convincing to talk the elderly farm wife into letting me take this shot. She was horrified at the thought, but graciously accepted my creative eccentricity in the end, shaking her head and mumbling all the while. .....They look like they are on a backdrop, but that is the blue sky…..really!

  • As a landscape photographer I am always in search of new interesting spots to depict. That’s why I travel a lot, when I can. However, I do believe that photography belongs more to how you see, than to what you see. With this in mind, I try to take advantage of any opportunity nature present me with, and I often realize that I don’t really need to travel a lot… This meadow is right outside my yard gate. I took this picture on last October, on a fresh early morning at sunrise, while some mist in the distance was spreading the dawn light tinging the sky with beautiful warm tones. Hope you enjoy this picture, thanks for dropping by. / Paolo

  • I forget the exact location but I spotted this dwelling on my travels in Scotland. It seemed as though it was only in need of a bit of TLC so I asked a couple of locals if it used to be an Inn or parish building. The reply was, “no, just a house”, and then they locals turned and left without another word…..............Almost as if there was some mystery surrounding it that they didn’t want to talk about…...........hence the title Unloved Canon 350D 18-55 IS Tonemapped

  • MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER Welcome to my latest work , for those commenting and if i am lucky favouriting thank you for dropping in ! This shot was taken on my recent travels south , had a great time wandering around Albury on my way back from Victoria. At Albury Wodonga, the Hume Highway, Australia’s busiest national transport corridor, crosses the Murray. For many years, Albury Wodonga has been singled out by travellers to break their journey overland from Melbourne to Sydney. In fact, Hamilton Hume and William Hovell passed through the area in 1824 and the famous ‘Hovell Tree’, in which Hovell carved his initials, still stands on the banks of the Murray River at Albury. Albury is lucky to be located on the magnificent Murray River. AlburyCity has a series of parks along the River’s edge with picnic and barbecue facilities. A two metre wide shaded walking/cycling trail runs through the parks, and has links to other trail networks throughout Albury and into Wodonga. Why not take a break at the outdoor Riverdeck Café in Noreuil Park. There’s a children’s playground, and the Noreuil Park foreshore is a favourite swimming spot if the weather is right. This shot was taken with 5 bracketted images around sunset, the camera Nikon D300, using a Sigma 10-20mm lens. The image processed using Photomatix Pro with a tidy up with Capture NX. • Well this shot did really well over on deviantART so I thought that I would also share with you all here too. (I honestly wasn’t expecting the 1600 odd favorites it received over there, took me by surprise!) Storm clouds fight with the evening sunset over the Colorado Rockies & Longs Peak. Every now and then I like to get a little artistic with my HDR’s and this is one of those, there is no right, no wrongs when it comes to photography and artistic interpretation, and i realize that not everyone likes that, nor this style, that is fine, I respect that, but I also ask the same of you to respect my creativeness, too! Now that being said, hope ya all dig it! / John See more on my website at www.jdebordphoto.com Minolta MAXXUM 5D / Shutter Speed: 1/25 second / F Number: F/9.0 / Focal Length: 80 mm / ISO Speed: 200

  • a glimpse into what we are going through here.. it makes finding these images out in nature worth it.. one set of neighbors(pink house) seem to think that yelling at us and calling us losers..is ok.. in front of my 7 yr old child… ie ..we have the neighbors from hell next door..and are still in the process of leaving this place..hopefully soon..and I would not wish this on anyone…the hell they have put us through.. I just try and show nature at it’s finest and my husband and child and I just am tired of their constant harrasment. I checked and they are not in photo life magazine as a emerging photographer..i am so frustrated…as are my husband and child… note / Many thanks to the Four Police Officers for coming out to see the video and have a chat with our neighbors (pink house)....it has been constant daily harassment from them and Perhaps this will put an end to it..and thank to Nikon for putting the video component into the camera:thumbsup: it has come in handy….have a great weekend.. / Nikon D90

  • Rainy Day – walk / Amersfoort NL – Heiligenbergerbeek NS-hiking path (Dec.9, 2008) Going for a hike is a favourite pastime in the Netherlands. No wonder that so many hike-routes are described and signed, so that it is easy for people to follow the route. / For me personally: nothing as inspiring as picking up my camera and gear, and setting out for a hike, be it here right in my own neighbourhood, or a little further away… With the camera in hand, I discover beauty with every step I go! :) These pics were made during an early morning winter walk in Amersfoort the Netherlands – Two weeks before the “Frozen world – walk”, Stephan, a photographer friend and myself the first part of this same hiking path… Most of it in the streaming rain… :( The dikes are such a typical feature in the Dutch landscape… often, large parts are fenced, so that sheep can roam freely on them… :) When the sheep doomed up before us on the path, surrounded by these majestic oaks, it felt to me as is we were walking into another world all together, another realm… Misty, wet, dark and moody weather, but awesome scenery… Hope you still enjoy… (we did!) ;) ... Photograph made with Pentax K10D camera and Pentax 18-55 lens – Exposure 1/45 sec, focal length 55, ISO 400 – no flash Featured and top10 placements / Featured in Playful photographic animals (Nov. 16, 2009) / Featured in Rural around the globe (Nov. 17, 2009) / Top 10 placement in Groups of animals by “Mood and ambience – group”: http://www.redbubble.com/groups/mood-and-ambience (Nov 24, 2009) / Top10 placement inWalkways with an Animal by Which Way (Dec 3, 2009) / Featured in Best from around the barnyard (Dec 6, 2009) / Thank you so much to the hosts of these marvellous groups, and to everyone who voted in the challenges! :) / Comments and feed-back always welcome.
