A fascinating and beautiful beach on the west coast of Norway. These huge boulders roll in and out when the powerful North Seas waves hit them. It makes an eerie and almost frightening sound.

I would like to thank Richie Fox for nominating this piece for the ‘Pay it Forward’ group here on RB. You can see his awesome art here -> http://www.redbubble.com/people/richman Here’s what he had to say about ‘Moon Fire:’ “I love this art because not everyone is doing it, its abit more specalized. Its close-up, macro shot and there is a talent in being able to see art, so very small, where other folk cant even see whats in front of them. This piece is a macro landscape from a bin/ dumpster and its brilliant. dark blue skies, bright sun and what could be seen as a bright red crop or a fire. colours and contrast work very well in the abstract. To have the vision and creativity to stick your head in a dirty bin and get close up looking for mini master pieces made from dirt, bumps, scratches and rusting metal surley does deserve a mention.” Richie – I’m flattered. Thanks for the nomination. This is a macro image taken from a dumpster in Boulder, Colorado. It has been edited for contrast and embellished to enhance the ‘landscapeness.’ The image is actually upside down… I think. I take so many of these that they all start to blur together. Reminds me of a Colorado Forest fire that I witnessed on a far away mountain.

This photo was taken in 2007 at Karnak temple (Egypt. Africa). The Karnak temple complex, universally known only as Karnak, describes a vast conglomeration of ruined temples, chapels, pylons and other buildings. It is located near Luxor in Egypt. This was ancient Egyptian Ipet-isut (“The Most Selected of Places”), the main place of worship of the Theban Triad with Amun as its head, in the monumental city of Thebes. The complex retrieves its current name from the nearby and partly surrounding modern village of el-Karnak, some 2.5km north of Luxor. / The complex is a vast open-air museum and the largest ancient religious site in the world. It is probably the second most visited historical site in Egypt, second only to the Giza Pyramids near Cairo. It consists of four main parts (precincts) of which only one is accessible for tourists and the general public. This is the Precinct of Amun-Re, and this it is also the main part of the complex and by far the largest part. The term Karnak is often understood as being the Precinct of Amun-Re only, as this is the only part most visitors normally see. The three other parts, the Precinct of Montu, the Precinct of Mut and the Temple of Amenhotep IV (dismantled), are closed to the public. There also are a few smaller temples and sanctuaries located outside the enclosing walls of the four main parts, as well as several avenues of human and ram-headed sphinxes connecting the Precinct of Mut, the Precinct of Amon-Re, and Luxor Temple. / The key difference between Karnak and most of the other temples and sites in Egypt is the length of time over which it was developed and used. Construction work began in the 16th century BC. Approximately thirty pharaohs contributed to the buildings, enabling it to reach a size, complexity, and diversity not seen elsewhere. Few of the individual features of Karnak are unique, but the size and number of features are overwhelming. Some of my favorite scenes involve the simplest of elements, I love to find these hidden treasures deep in the woods. A couple of maples leaves find a momentary place to rest before the surging waters of small stream wash them away.

This is an HDR image (+/-3 EV) taken with a Nikon D200. F22 / Processed in Photomatix Pro and edited in Photoshop CS4. It is best viewed larger. I shot the image for the challenge that Richard and Irene have set in the B/W group.’England as Seen in B/W. But as always, I have not yet found the courage to loose the beautiful colours. But I am so pleased that we made the effort to go. It is a stunning location, with its Enchanted Forest and wonderful gardens. Groomsbridge Place is the fictional home of the Bennet family in the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice. It is a moated manor house, near Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The house, built in 1662, is also featured as ‘Birlstone Manor’ in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes mystery The Valley of Fear. Groombridge was also the estate seen in Peter Greenaway’s elegant 1982 mystery The Draughtsman’s Contract.
/ / Original pencil drawing on Aquarelle Arches paper 56×76cm / Drawing 15 hours/painting 12 hours = 27 hours total A digitally painted hand drawn artwork… the inspiration for this is “Meeting Places”... As a child one of the most frequent things we did together as a family was to attend church on Sundays, I went to a Catholic School and the church I remember best was St Agnes’ at Port Macquarie… the nuns would come over for morning tea sometimes, and the priests would come for dinner occasionally…they were the days of fun parish picnics and life that wasn’t so hurried..when we took time to socialise, meeting and enjoying one another’s company. Mum was/is a great cook and host…and although this picture isn’t authentic as a portrait of her and myself…it’s representative. It’s also representative of new life and hope for the future, as the mother figure is with child….. and the child herself nurtures the wildlife…perhaps she is taking them to church for a blessing… perhaps the joey has lost his mother and needs nursing til he can fend for himself. The kookaburra is all seeing and all knowing….. the wise overseer of the bush… in this case, he stands in as the owl figure.

Every 300 years or so the planet Hale’akala glows red with anger, it is then time when offerings are made to the Goddess Pele. A time when our old and unhealthy give themselves, so that the strong may live. Stories and legends tell that this tower that rises 500 feet above to sea was once a great sky ship, and it sailed between the stars, it brought the people here to this place. / Our people have some very strange stories, how could something so big fly? But then I am old and unhealthy, the mind is slipping….........................so
