When the light is at its finest. The Peak Hour.
From blue skies one day, to hiking in a cloud for the whole next one…this happened to be one of my best photography days though when late in the day, the cloud level lifted and gave some mood lighting. The peaks of Cradle Mountain shrouded in fog and the orange and red fagus looking their best due to the cold Autumny conditions.
Panorama of 14 images and around 300 degrees fov….Taken from near Hansons Peak ~ Cradle Mountain N.P. ~ Tasmania ~ Aus. / A beautiful scene surrounded by the Autumnal tones of the Fagus. Taken late in the day when the cloud layer lifted and around the same time as a couple of single shots of this place I uploaded a short time ago. As always, I lugged my heavy pano head everywhere I went trekking. Often questioning whether it was worth it as it weighs down your pack considerably..I thought if there was any a time to use it, this was it..! clambering up over rocks to this vantage spot and fired off a few pans. Finally trekking back off the mountain in the dark but very happy with the days efforts….thanks for having a look and any comments…cheers, Rob. / ps, and yes, I’m getting towards the end of my Tas collection…finally..!! Still a few pans to work on from the Tasman though..
A lenticular cloud caps Mt. Rainier on an Autumn day as the fireweed bloom nears the top signalling an end to summer. All reflected in the waters of Reflection LAke
A frustrating summer of not getting out much due to work and family committments. After a 3 days sales meeting I was determined to get to the mountains and finally made it for a sunset hike last night. I had to wait for the wind to die to capture this meadow full of Avalanche Lillies with Mt. Rainier in the background.
This shot was taken on our local beach at around 7:30am. I like this shot in particular because at this time of morning people all around the world pack into trains, cars, trams, buses etc and here is this girl and her horse reclaiming that little bit of freedom most of us crave.
Many dreams are forgotten or lost by the time we awaken fully, but that is not usually the case with dreams of flying. Flying dreams are very often a precursor for lucid dreaming; a dream state in which we are aware we are dreaming and can manipulate the outcome of the dream. Freely flying as high or as low as you wish using your arms or feet for direction, often with the ability to do acrobatics in the air is an indication that you feel really superior about something in your life. Once in a while, a flying dream will not go so well, such as when you can’t take off or you lose altitude or something is in your path and you can’t fly past or through it. / Surrealism art prints / Digital art prints / Fantasy digital art wallpapers
Had a wedding to attend a couple of weeks ago which gave me the opportunity to find a new area too shoot. So while my wife slept in I ventured up to Mt. Baker for Dawn and this was my reward. Kulshan Ridge Reflecting in the still waters of Picture Lake near Mt. Baker
To catch the sun rising over the mountain requires a 3AM wakeup call 2 hour drive and a short 1 mile hike to waters edge. In my book worth it! Dawn illuminates the cloud-capped peak of Mt. Rainier as it reflects in the the still waters of Bench Lake

Background Information: / Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6183 feet (1884 m). The lake has a surface area of 0.5 km². The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. However, when it is full, it is a beautiful shade of blue. The lake gets its color from the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis. This is Denali, also known as Mt. McKinley, taken by my mate-for-life, Howard Marsh, in 2003. Denali is within Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska, some six million acres of wild land with one ribbon of road. Most visitors travel by old, old hard-seat school buses, or ride bicycles or hike. That road is closed to vehicles in order to prevent the effects of too much carbon monoxide, too many people, too much risk to the wildlife. Even air traffic is moderately restricted, although some say not enough restrictions are in place to preserve the peace and quiet. Once a year in the fall, the road opens to a select number of lottery winners. I had done some technical editing and layout work for Denali National Park that year, and was given a vehicle pass. A rare gift. Denali is considered the crowning jewel of the park as North America’s highest peak – an awe-inspiring, 20,320 foot wonder. Mountains and Mountain Light featured – Thank you! I love rainy, overcast, windy days. Someone has to, I suppose. The pink/purple of the fireweed has yet to reach its full splendor. As Alaskan legend has it, when fireweed blooms all the way to the top of its spire – the six-week countdown to winter begins. Some of us can hardly wait. It felt great to get out in the elements! This shot was taken from the Patio at the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff Alberta. What a lovely place to sit for a drink!
Mount Shuksan is in the North Cascades National Park, Washington State, USA. / This part of the USA is known as “The Pacific North West.” We arrived here good and early, before the crowds arrived, and since there is a highway running all the way to “Artist Point” it can indeed get busy , I guess owing to the fact that it is easily accessible from the Seattle region, straight off the Interstate from Bellingham, an easy drive of less than two hours, and not too remote, / I spotted some postcards and tourist brochures with a variety of images of this scene, and determined to see it for myself. Glad I did. I would love to see this when snow blankets the ground ! “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” JOHN MUIR Shot on a CANON EOS 20D, mounted on a tripod, polarising filter attached, f22, 1/30 sec, iso 100, auto wb, 18-55mm lens, / set at 18mm, RAW file, processed as much as possible in Adobe Camera Raw then CS3, usual levels/curves adjustments, LAB colour, Intellisharpen used.
