  • / “Yesterday” is part of the Fall Landscape Collection...the song “Yesterday” is one of my favourites and was the inspiration for this painting….my interpretation is not a literal one, but more about the feelings that the lyrics may engender….the song is so inspiring, and as fall is drifting away from us the first thng that came to my mind was that longing for it to last a little longer…the colours I instinctively chose were a blending of the fires of autumn and the cooler blues of winter…as it’s a memory, the image has been softened…..winter has come, frost is on the branches, and we reminisce about the beautiful autumn days that are no longer here... / “Yesterday” is not for mourning, but for looking back at it’s joys, and looking forward to more…..it may be the winter of our lives or the end of a romance, but we all dream of...Yesterday... Watercolour on Arches Paper… 364 Views Yesterday, Yesterday, / Days I knew as happy sweet sequestered days. / Golden days, golden days, / Days of mad romance and love.. / Joys were mine to take, / Joys were mine to give. / Free and gaily flaming life, / was mine to live. / Sad am I, glad am I, / For today I’m dreaming of, / Yesterday..Jerome Kern For Irene Dunne fans… listen to her lovely, heartfelt, interpretation of Yesterday /

  • / “Imagination “is part of the series “The Trees”, all the seasons together, inspired by the Green movement, and painted in Watercolour on Arches Hot Pressed Paper..see others below 1450 views The tree which moves some to tears of joy, is in the eyes of others, only a green thing that stands in the way. / Some see Nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarce see Nature at all. / But to the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself. / William Blake, 1799, The Letters* / / / /

  • / “Hibiscus Morning” is part of the Tropics Collection...mornings on the island, the Hibiscus opens early…breakfast on the terrace with the warmth of the sun, feels so luxurious with all the blossoms cascading down, in their multitudinous shades of brilliant colour ... Watercolour on Arches Hot Pressed Paper… Sequestered in their wiry pods, / the hibiscus opened last night after a long silence. / While we mimicked stones in our shared bed, / the big lusty blooms burst into being, / half-human and full as the moon. We practice avoidance this morning; / a marriage of papery faces nods in the sun / ox-blood, pearl and the pink-throated one, / their enviable tongues already discovered by the bees. J. Wallace /

  • These are actually not poplar trees but the nesting colonies of the sociable weavers in the Kalahari desert. The weaver birds build their nests in high trees or in this case man made poles. The nesting material is harvested by local farmers to be sold as an industrial fire retardant and gets it’s color from the nearby Red dunes This image shows a detail. oil on canvas / 120×80 cm / original sold

  • Softly, as in a morning sunrise / The light of love comes stealing / Into a new born day—oh / Flaming with all the glow of sunrise / A burning kiss is sealing / The vow that all betray / For the passions that thrill love / And lift you high to heaven / Are the passions that kill love / And let you fall to hell / So ends the story / Softly, as in an evening sunset / The light that gave you glory / Will take it all away I was listening to this wonderful song and I had to do a painting in response to the lyrics…written by Hammerstein and Romberg, the song was recorded by every one under the sun…poignant and heartbreaking, it has always resonated with me…I hope the painting does the same with you. Painted All Prima in Acrylic on Canvas. MUSIC FEATURED IN THE FOLLOWING GROUPS.. / Feminine Intent. / Watermedia. / Image Writing / Impressionist Art.

  • / / Original pencil drawing on Aquarelle Arches paper 56×76cm / Drawing 15 hours/painting 12 hours = 27 hours total A digitally painted hand drawn artwork… the inspiration for this is “Meeting Places”... As a child one of the most frequent things we did together as a family was to attend church on Sundays, I went to a Catholic School and the church I remember best was St Agnes’ at Port Macquarie… the nuns would come over for morning tea sometimes, and the priests would come for dinner occasionally…they were the days of fun parish picnics and life that wasn’t so hurried..when we took time to socialise, meeting and enjoying one another’s company. Mum was/is a great cook and host…and although this picture isn’t authentic as a portrait of her and myself…it’s representative. It’s also representative of new life and hope for the future, as the mother figure is with child….. and the child herself nurtures the wildlife…perhaps she is taking them to church for a blessing… perhaps the joey has lost his mother and needs nursing til he can fend for himself. The kookaburra is all seeing and all knowing….. the wise overseer of the bush… in this case, he stands in as the owl figure.
