Mt Warning is part of an mountain range that used to be extinct volcanos. Captain Cook named it as he could see it far out to sea.It rises way above the surrounding flatlands which there are many sugarcan fields. It’s about 1 hour drive from where I live. and it must be the most painted landscape in this area.

We all seek refuge during the storm. “On life’s journey faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter, wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection by night. If a man lives a pure life, nothing can destroy him.” / Buddha

There are more than 6 billion human beings on Earth. According to the population estimates released by the United Nations, the 6 billion mark was reached on October 12 1999. Here is a sample that I had to paint of some of these beautiful people of the world. / Digital painting is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.

Experimenting with watercolours today I created this loose one out of my imagination picturing a peaceful place full of colour and wonder. 10×12” watercolour on Arches paper. Twilight ‘Tis the light between day and night / the glow of the sky is such a sight. / The time in between hanging in the air / the rays of light proud in their glare. The sun’s flame paints the sky / shadows falling the bird’s cry. / Magical images fill your mind / the mystery of nature is one of a kind. About This Painting / I used to travel on circuit throughout the central North Island of New Zealand, and the stretch of country from Rotorua through to Whakatane always fascinated me. Many times I managed to squeeze in a few minutes to sketch or take a photo. I never saw it looking like this – but that’s what’s called artist’s licence, isn’t it! Acrylic on canvas board 20×14in.
