All over Australia, people are waiting for drought to break, to see those welcome rain clouds on the horizon. Artist Al Benge has produced this topical sketch to illustrate the subject. / Al comments….Living in a rural area of Queensland gives me the opportunity to observe as an artist, the effects of the drought on surrounding farmland. At the moment, it is brown and parched, but at dusk, blue shadows creep across the landscape. I sketched this scene just down the road from where I live, and used a pen and ink, plus splatter technique to convey the dry terrain. The windmill and tank gave a focus in the mid-distance to the composition.
Two farmers having a chat, oblivious to the fact that they are taking up most of the road. I gained inspiration for this original drawing from the area where I live – roads out here tend to run in straight lines to the far horizon. This is a familiar scene in outback Australia with a brown dusty landscape and telephone poles that march off to nowhere. I used a combination of pen and ink, plus pastel tones smudged in the sky area.

(I AM NOT AN ARTIST I AM JUST A MAN WHO PAINTS.L.S.LOWRY).... I have been painting as an amateur artist on and off for many years.I have over the years developed a very unusual use of colour and content, which I now know from experience appeal to many people, Including individual collectors and dealers. Newcastle upon Tyne England has been a hotbed of heavy Industry since the beginning of the industrial revolution, most of which has now gone forever. A lot of my paintings are recollections of youthful images of the period, late 1940s and 1950s. They are inspired by local naïve and primitive pitmen artists I am also an admirer of L.S.LOWRY, and the great American artist EDWARD HOPPER .AND GRANMA MOSES among others. An original modern Tile Art canvas by contemporary artist Mark Lawrence of Alpharetta, Georgia . The Tile Art technique is similar to the grid technique pioneered by modern artist Chuck Close. Each of the “tiles” in this work have been meticulously colored in a distinctive method created by the artist. The result is a fine art masterpiece of wonderful depth and mystery; described by one collector as a mirror into heaven itself that draws the spirit calmly inward. Mark Lawrence, Tile Art #12, 2008. Original painting and photographic print. / This lake was flooded by Tasmanian Hydro-Electric Scheme. Covering up a wonderful paradise, this unique lake that was an inland sea, south of the middle of Tasmania, was flooded and is now under the Gorden River Dam. Not much research was done at Lake Peder apart from photographs taken by a famous photographer Olegas Truchanas & he was mentored by Peter Dombrovkis- both artists contributing to the struggle to preserve the wilderness. Olegas drew attention to the fact that we needed to ….’revise attitude to land under our feet and accept a role of steward and depart from the role of conquerer’. Sadly it took the Franklin River political storm to shake people up, too late for the beautiful Lake Peder. / http://www.lakepedder.org/resources/reflections/Reflections%2010.pdf

This small creek landscape reminds me of trout fishing in New Mexico or Arizona, where you can find the biggest Rainbow and Brown trout in the world. The Texas Fishermen used to flock to the Rivers and Creeks in the southwest United States especially opening day of Fishing season for a chance to catch these monsters. / Record for Brown trout was caught on the Rio Chama below El Vado Dam by G. T. Colgrove of Decatur, Texas, on July 8th, 1946. It is the largest River Run Brown Trout ever caught in New Mexico.
