Possibly one of the most charismatic tree’s I have ever seen, it’s at a place called Batesford which is West of Geelong. Standing next to it overlooking the landscape at sunrise or sunset is something quite special, a bit like hanging with an old friend lol

Just loved the light in this. Taken late afternoon in July. Images / A lone tree stripped of bark naked and weathered it stands, out stretched twisted branches reaching out, as if they were beckoning hands. / Foreboding clouds settling low as though it were about to rain, something about these images speaks of His loneliness and His pain. / Leaning slightly away upright stones firmly fixed, hard and etched by time, something about these images speaks of hard hearts and narrow minds. / A lone tree casting forth its shadow of grace like a sentinel it stands, perhaps its creations way of reminding humanity who it was that crucified the Son of Man! / Inspired by the photo “One Sunday” by GailD Images was written by Martin Steinbrugger. This was taken at a dam in Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills, Australia in winter at dawn. We don’t get any snow in Adelaide, as our summers are very hot. There is still some fog around on the water. This is pure bliss to me. This was taken with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera, on a tripod. This was taken because of the mood created with the fog, the winter sunlight lighting up the boat and the 3 waterfowl swimming in the opposite direction to the boat.
This was taken on a lake, at Oakbank, in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, Australia. It was early morning, so there was still some mist around, on the lake. Tripod was used. There is nothing better than being up early on a cold winter’s day and being greeted with such a beautiful setting. A Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera was used. I took this because of the incredible light, mist and mood that it offered. It was also my husband and his sister bonding very early in the morning.
This photo was taken in 2007 at Karnak temple (Egypt. Africa). The Karnak temple complex, universally known only as Karnak, describes a vast conglomeration of ruined temples, chapels, pylons and other buildings. It is located near Luxor in Egypt. This was ancient Egyptian Ipet-isut (“The Most Selected of Places”), the main place of worship of the Theban Triad with Amun as its head, in the monumental city of Thebes. The complex retrieves its current name from the nearby and partly surrounding modern village of el-Karnak, some 2.5km north of Luxor. / The complex is a vast open-air museum and the largest ancient religious site in the world. It is probably the second most visited historical site in Egypt, second only to the Giza Pyramids near Cairo. It consists of four main parts (precincts) of which only one is accessible for tourists and the general public. This is the Precinct of Amun-Re, and this it is also the main part of the complex and by far the largest part. The term Karnak is often understood as being the Precinct of Amun-Re only, as this is the only part most visitors normally see. The three other parts, the Precinct of Montu, the Precinct of Mut and the Temple of Amenhotep IV (dismantled), are closed to the public. There also are a few smaller temples and sanctuaries located outside the enclosing walls of the four main parts, as well as several avenues of human and ram-headed sphinxes connecting the Precinct of Mut, the Precinct of Amon-Re, and Luxor Temple. / The key difference between Karnak and most of the other temples and sites in Egypt is the length of time over which it was developed and used. Construction work began in the 16th century BC. Approximately thirty pharaohs contributed to the buildings, enabling it to reach a size, complexity, and diversity not seen elsewhere. Few of the individual features of Karnak are unique, but the size and number of features are overwhelming. This is Denali, also known as Mt. McKinley, taken by my mate-for-life, Howard Marsh, in 2003. Denali is within Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska, some six million acres of wild land with one ribbon of road. Most visitors travel by old, old hard-seat school buses, or ride bicycles or hike. That road is closed to vehicles in order to prevent the effects of too much carbon monoxide, too many people, too much risk to the wildlife. Even air traffic is moderately restricted, although some say not enough restrictions are in place to preserve the peace and quiet. Once a year in the fall, the road opens to a select number of lottery winners. I had done some technical editing and layout work for Denali National Park that year, and was given a vehicle pass. A rare gift. Denali is considered the crowning jewel of the park as North America’s highest peak – an awe-inspiring, 20,320 foot wonder. Mountains and Mountain Light featured – Thank you! Alaska ~ Beyond Your Dreams featured – Thank you! As-Is, untouched scan of film. / / Photo by Howard Marsh
Ok , new direction for me. i’m trying to stretch my wings creatively and since I am already obsessed with cooking up color tones for my pictures, i figure the next step is to start inserting textures. 3200 ISO is a brave new world for me. As a self confessed low ISO junkie, one who used Ektar 25 film whenever and wherever he could for many years because I wanted tight grain, the tighter the better, I would pull out all the stops I could to use that amazing ISO 25 film! For sure I’d never gone above ISO 1000 and then only to shoot indoor sporting events. Low ISO was(?) a hang-up for me! But I wanted to try astral photography and high ISO can get you there! However as we all know high ISO leads to increased noise which is something fairly new to me. You can use software and Photoshop plugins but I’ve been considering, one way to control noise would be to minimize or eliminate it by keeping the ISO as low as possible and that’s one way I‘m leaning. So in that regard it looks like a fast 50 prime is in order! It’s fun to be experimenting and learning, eh! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 30 / Av( Aperture Value ) 3.5 / ISO Speed 3200 / Focal Length 18.0mm / Flash at 1/16 power and about 12 or 13 paper towels for diffusion. “One Night Under the Milky Way” was shot at Flamber Head on Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr
