  • The 660m wharf at Tolaga Bay, New Zealand , a crumbling relic of the late 1920s, is said to be the longest such wharf in the southern hemisphere and even has a website dedicated to saving it. This photo was taken in 2003 when the first few pillars had been renovated, showing the new and old… A beautiful shot!

  • About 1 hour into the trek on Franz Josef Glacier. I hope this image portrays the vastness and size of this glacier which is only a few miles from the sea

  • pic from aotea lagoon, porirua, wellington

  • I went hiking to an old gun artillery base established during the second world war to protect Christchurch’s important water supply point from the Pacific. The base was located on a small peninsular called Godley Head and there was a well used walkway on the peripheral of the landmass, to reach several points of interest whilst i was there. This image was taken looking back to wards Lyttelton, Christchurch’s main port.

  • I had been told that the beach was not to be missed, just because of the sheer noise of the place. Black sand gave way to black polished pebbles that was smashed together in the wash. Even small waves created a deafening metallic sound to the roar, goodness knows what it would be like during big surf days. Also throughout was almost white driftwood carried to the sea by the Rakaia river further south, laying about the black sand. Someone had been inspired and created this interesting sculpture and i thought it contrasted beautifully with it’s dark surroundings.

  • Great little spot, directly across from Lyttelton which lights can be seen twinkling across the water. All looks calm but i can assure you the water can get quite rough. I waited for a couple hours and had been to this site before only to be let down by the light. This time everything worked out well, and i even got to see a Hector Dolphin!

  • The afternoon had been dreary, overcast and rainy. We were just peeling off our soaked hiking gear when the sun dropped below the clouds to drench everything in an eerie yellow-orange glow. Taken in the town of Fox Glacier, New Zealand, in March 2009 without filters or other color manipulation.
