Horseshoe Bend is the name for a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the United States. It is located slightly downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell, about four miles or 6 km south of Page. Accessible via a 3⁄4-mile (1.2 km) hike from U.S. Route 89, it can be viewed from the steep cliff above, forming a spectacular vista. / This image is actually made of 4 pictures taken with my Canon 20D – 17-40mm L lens and stitched together to create this panoramic
The day summer arrived and it got stinking hot. This shot was taken at 5am and not a cloud in sight. The days temperature climbed up to 40.2°C in Brisbane. Summer is over is just over a week. This morning was certainly what I would expect in winter, crisp, vibrant and cloudless. Keep it coming…love it

this is my ghana; the ghana where women build the nation balancing work, motherhood and responsibility with feminine grace. the ghana where the infinite inner strength of its women reigns with the peace and tranquillity of their confidence of success. the ghana that carries all her burdens and never gives up, but just keeps looking ahead.
Mother nature presented me on a last October evening with one of those sunsets that you can hope to see just once a year if you’re lucky. / High layers of scattered clouds, a pure, clean atmosphere and the fact that at the end of october the twilight lasts almost a hour, all this elements contributed in producing a stunning natural show. This is the Po River near to Carignano in Piedmont, Italy. I hope you enjoy it, thanks for dropping by. Paolo

December 2007, I was asked by friends, who were expecting their first child out here in Riyadh to capture the pregnancy in my own unique way… A trip out to the desert followed and the rest, as they say, is history. Nearly 6 months after the arrival of little Kennedy, we were back out at the desert yesterday re-shooting, plus One! With searing temperatures reaching into the 40s first thing in the morning over here in summer, this was a shoot that lasted all of 15 minutes… I’ve never clicked so furiously at my shutter and bare feet have never gotten so hot!

Well, kind of. This is as near to an apocalyptic scene as Cleethorpes is ever likely to get. Until the apocalypse, that is. But that’s not coming for at least 2 years, so this will do in the meantime.
The Rainforests of the Tarkine, some 177,000 hectares, include the largest unbroken stand of rainforest in Australia. A relic from the ancient continent, Gondwanaland, the Tarkine rainforest is one of the most significant temperate rainforests on earth. It is home to 56 threatened and endangered species, such as the Giant Freshwater Crayfish – the world’s largest freshwater invertebrate and the Tasmanian Wedge Tailed Eagle – the largest Eagle in Australia. These rainforests are recognised as being one of the most significant tracts of temperate rainforest on earth, and are under imminent threat. While logging of pure stands of rainforest is occurring in and around the periphery of the Tarkine, the logging industry is pushing the Tasmanian Government to allow logging through the heart of the Tarkine Rainforests. This would divide the rainforest and seriously fragment the Tarkine’s wilderness qualities. Information sourced from John Merory I recently had the pleasure of working with Maree Jenkins who is soon to be opening her Tarkine Wilderness Lodge in the heart of the Tarkine Rainforest. Maree shared with me her love and intense passion for this very important little corner of the world. By establishing the Lodge as a viable tourism venture Maree hopes to stave off the chainsaws and brutal machinery of the Government which threaten to steal the life breath of the forest, stripping it of its natural beauty. Save our forests. They desperately need our voice for they have no voice of their own.
[portrait taken in Natural Light] : 16/11/2008 [AS IS] I was walking from one village to the next, in Remote Nigeria. one of the team noticed this young girl following us for some time. I stopped and spoke to her through an interpretor. We learned that she was 13 years old and caring for three younger Sisters. As she told us here story, I Felt compelled to return to her village. There we met her three younger sisters in the most extreme poverty. Both Parents were dead and no other living relatives. We spoke to the village Chief and the elders who pleaded with us to help the family. We did, as God lead us to and blessed her with clothing, and the following day we sent two of our field workers to meet with her and now they have a small regular income from our mission funds. UPDATE 5-8-2009. Mary is now at School. We pay her school fees adn her three younger sisters are well and happy. We need help with Susan, aged 9. She wants to go to school also. We need help with school fees, uniform adn text books. Can you help? will you Help? Oil on canvas. ± 8” x 12”. December 2008. Another painting showing the view of Cape Town and Table Mountain (Western Province, South Africa) as seen from Bloubergstrand. I love trying to capture the forces of nature in paint on canvas but believe that only a camera can truly capture the beauty of this amazing and magical place. / Table Mountain has many moods and this view changes all the time, pure magic.. Worked on and off on this for the past few months and again did not use any reference for this. I used to love sitting on the beach and sketching the mountain a few years ago. These days I spend many hours in traffic but at least enjoy this amazing view while I am crawling to work.
“Mother Nature’s sculpture” was featured in the groups / Unconventional Artistry / American Southwest / The Art of Intrigue / and The Great Outdoors One of “The Seven Sisters”, as these huge rock formations are called. Photo taken in the Valley of Fire, Nevada, USA, beginning of December 2008, with m y Canon PowerShot S5 IS camera. Information from Wikipedia: / Valley of Fire State Park is Nevada’s oldest State Park. It covers an area of 34,880 acres (141 km²) and was dedicated in 1935. Valley of Fire is located 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Las Vegas at an elevation of between 2,000 and 2,600 feet (610 and 790 m). It abuts the Lake Mead National Recreation Area at the Virgin River confluence. It lies in a basin 4 miles (6 km) wide by 6 miles (10 km) long, 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Clark County, Nevada. The rough floor and jagged walls of the park contain brilliant formations of eroded sandstone and sand dunes more than 150 million years old. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park’s attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun’s rays. The Valley of Fire derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs. Complex uplifting and faulting of the region, followed by extensive erosion, have created the present landscape. Other important rock formations include limestones, shales, and conglomerates. / / Prehistoric users of the Valley of Fire included the Ancient Pueblo Peoples, also known as the Anasazi who were farmers from the nearby fertile Moapa Valley. The span of approximate occupation has been dated from 300 B.C. to 1150 A.D. Their visits probably involved hunting, food gathering, and religious ceremonies, although scarcity of water would have limited the length of their stay. Fine examples of rock art left by these ancient peoples can be found at several sites within the park.

“Daily learn trust and calm in the midst of storm.”.....Enigma+Enya ..inspired by a poem by William Wordsworth…”Calm is all Nature as a Resting Wheel.” Calm is all nature as a resting wheel. / The kine are couched upon the dewy grass; / The horse alone, seen dimly as I pass, / Is cropping audibly his later meal: / Dark is the ground; a slumber seems to steal / O’er vale, and mountain, and the starless sky. / Now, in this blank of things, a harmony, / Home-felt, and home-created, comes to heal / That grief for which the senses still supply / Fresh food; for only then, when memory / Is hushed, am I at rest. My Friends! restrain / Those busy cares that would allay my pain; / Oh! leave me to myself, nor let me feel / The officious touch that makes me droop again. / William Wordsworth / ...NRDC .. / Global warming is pushing wildlife over the brink. ........a first experimental redfield fractallius plug-in landscape…using a photograph I took at the Norfolk Broads UK…..
“Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun; / Conspiring with him how to load and bless / With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run; / To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees, / And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core; / To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells / With a sweet kernel; to set budding more, / And still more, later flowers for the bees, / Until they think warm days will never cease, / For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells . . . “ - from John Keats’ “Ode to Autumn” Digital Oil Painting – Corel Painter X 501 views as of 11/6/09
/ / Original pencil drawing on Aquarelle Arches paper 56×76cm / Drawing 15 hours/painting 12 hours = 27 hours total A digitally painted hand drawn artwork… the inspiration for this is “Meeting Places”... As a child one of the most frequent things we did together as a family was to attend church on Sundays, I went to a Catholic School and the church I remember best was St Agnes’ at Port Macquarie… the nuns would come over for morning tea sometimes, and the priests would come for dinner occasionally…they were the days of fun parish picnics and life that wasn’t so hurried..when we took time to socialise, meeting and enjoying one another’s company. Mum was/is a great cook and host…and although this picture isn’t authentic as a portrait of her and myself…it’s representative. It’s also representative of new life and hope for the future, as the mother figure is with child….. and the child herself nurtures the wildlife…perhaps she is taking them to church for a blessing… perhaps the joey has lost his mother and needs nursing til he can fend for himself. The kookaburra is all seeing and all knowing….. the wise overseer of the bush… in this case, he stands in as the owl figure.
This image of my wife and daughter was the only print in history to score a perfect “100” score from all juges at the “PPof O” and “PPof A” print competition. The print was also slected to be displayed in the International Traveling Loan Collection, the “Epcot Center” and “The International Professional Photographers Hall of Fame” exhibit. I can vividly remember hyper ventalating and almost passing out when I saw the print scores being displayed during judging. The highlight of my photography career.
A long walk from somewhere, and a long walk to go … had enough time to set myself up for this shot, as it took ages for the only two persons on this path to get into position. Hoi An, Vietnam / FEATURED in #1 Artists of Redbubble Group 23/11/2009 / 148 Views on 24/11/2009
