  • This was taken near Wandin East at the back of the Dandenong Ranges. I was driving around through the mist and got lost. As i was coming around a bend I looked out and saw this.

  • This is again, from a drive through the back roads of the Dandenong ranges in Victoria. I was just driving around and stopping to photograph things that caught me eye (I wound up lost too). This is a plot of land behind a farmhouse near Seville.

  • Shot this back in November, 2004, when the grass was much greener, and there was water in the dam. There’s only been water in that dam one other time since then, and it lasted around 6 weeks….this is a nice reminder of what we used to have…. Sold this a number of times pre-redbubble, mostly A3 size, and it won me a $1500 prize from the Brisbane City Council, as well the John Herbert medal at APSCON 2005, and also a number of other smaller prizes. This was sold december 2008 on redbubble as a matted print. • Veil of Mystery Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © A stand of bare limbed trees on a gently rolling hillside emerges from the veil of an early morning fog. Gympie, Queensland. “Some might see the morning fog as a shroud of / grey that settles in their soul and stays with them / even when the sun breaks through to warm their / skin. / Others see the fog as a beautiful mist that opens / up to reveal the brightness of life and a reason to / feel good about the outside…on the inside.” / ~ Annette Hansen Veil of Mystery has been featured in the: Redbubble Homepage – December 08 Trees Group – June 08 Trees and Their Parts Group – May 09

  • I was inspired this morning after reading and commenting on Julie Langford’s Post. It made me remember that sometimes the journey – the people you meet, the things you learn along the way – is more important than the destination. So despite the bitter frosty morning I rugged myself up (two thermals are better than one) and set out to greet nature and the day with Sami and my trusty tripod in tow. Turns out The Day had advance warning from Nature that I was coming (I think it was the blue wren who visits me that let the secret out)... and together they turned on an absolutely gorgeous – albeit bloody freezing – show. This is most likely the easiest image I have ever had in post production, the only enhancement it has had is a slight vignette added. For the mist gently rising off the water… the glorious colour… the frost on the reeds… the delicate reflections… the beautiful ray of illuminating light… I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Nature and The Day. • Well it was a very strange day shooting. Part of a series. This image was shot using a / mamiya 220 camera (6X6 medium format) and iLford black and white 120 roll film. / The original is hand printed by moi on Ilford Multigrade IV Fiber Based Paper.

  • Sunset at Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains in TN. At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the Great / Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the highest point in Tennessee, / and the third highest mountain east of the Mississippi. Shot right on the Tennessee/North Carolina state line…this shot is a combination of both states Beauty

  • It may be a ‘new’ version of an old shot …but is it improved…? hmm….thats the question…. (CLICK ‘next’ to compare….) The original untouched dawn mist was my 2nd ever post to rb with taken with my brand-new pocket fuji finepix A500… and it’s been the most popular shot in my gallery by far. It’s just reached the unbelievable figure of 100 faves – how awesome and mindboggling is that!! So this plus a new challenge gave me the idea of tweaking it slightly to see if it could be improved on . I fiddled with the jpg as camera raw in PS Els 6… / Comments, comparisons and suggestions most welcome as I’d love to know what you think….. Cheers and thanks everyone for all your awesome encouragement and support all along which has really got me hooked in and loving photography more than ever… Thanks so much for looking too.. ding / :)))) Captured just after dawn at Loch Voil near Balquidder in Scotland,

  • Taken in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA. Driving along the park road early one morning, there was a small dip in the road where the early morning mist had lingered. I frantically shot as much as I could, knowing it would rapidly vanish with the sun getting higher in the sky. It was so unbelievably beautiful, I felt like I was dreaming ! / A very magical five minutes that is forever etched in my memory. / The tree skeletons are relics of that huge fire in the Eighties. I shot on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, polarising filter attached, iso 100, Auto WB, f22, 1/15 sec, RAW file processed in Adobe Camera Raw, then CS3, with selective levels and curves adjustments, also selective colour. Other than that, the shot kinda took itself !
