  • watercolor 12” x 16” on Arches cold pressed paper In memory of Canadian artist Kat Viva / who recently died of brain cancer. One of her paintings was also entitled “Left Behind”. It, too, had a double meaning. Logs in the shallow shores of a lake along Mill Road north of Terrace Bay, Ontario.

  • This is an old road (now unused) and I was attracted to the bright moss colored chopped logs. So I had to hike back to photograph them. Actually just around the bend was a lot of old building debris. Ecola State Park (Near Canon Beach Oregon) / One of Ecola State Park’s first attractions was a beached whale. In 1806, Capt. William Clark and twelve members of the Corps of Discovery climbed over rocky headlands and fought their way through thick shrubs and trees to get to the whale in what is now Ecola State Park. Today, a paved road from Cannon Beach makes your trek to the park much easier. Winding your way through towering Sitka spruce, you suddenly emerge upon a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Inspired Art ! ======================================= The Leslie Log House was taken the Northwest Mississauga, Ontario., Canada. / This Log house was built in 1826 by John Leslie and his wife Esther Beatty who came to Upper Canada from Sutherland, Scotland in 1824. / This house was moved to it’s present location in May of 1994 to preserve it’s historical heritage. / I was told that this locaion will soon become another Historical Park in the City of Mississauga. / I took this photo in B&W and found it only fitting to give this image the treatment and processing to get the effect of the Master photographers in the period of approx. 1839 and on. / The processing took some time but I think I got the result I was looking for. ======================================= Taken with: Nikon EM. / Tripod mounted. / Full manual setting. / Nikon 36-73 zoom lens. / Hoya UV-(0) & Sepia tone lens filters stacked. / T-100 B&W film. / One exposure taken. / Negative scaned to disk. / Processing: Corel Paint shop ProX2 / The edges was darkened using the Burn Tool. / The Sepia tone and adjusted to desired level.
