This photo of a silhouetted cross against a beautiful sunset was taken in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada right across the street from my house. My then girlfriend, now wife pointed out the cross, so I got down to ground level and took the shot. I took this shot from the Windsor turf farms today while following a storm which hit about 5 minutes later.. It is an HDR shot and I think HDR was the right choice as it shows details in both the sky and landscape.. / I have always wanted to try and get a storm shot while down at the turf farms because the scene just looks so typically australian to me.. / I decided to include the gate to break up the scene a bit and add something more to view than just turf and the sky.. / Anyway as usual all comments and/or thoughts are welcome.. / Thanks for having a look! This image was taken at Honeymoon Bay, Freycinet Peninsula, Tasmania. I like it because it has a children’s storybook feel to it. I spent half an hour photographing a group of little girls playing under the tree. There were five more of them out of sight, closer to the water. These two were the teachers and the others were the class. In this shot one of the girls put her arm around the other (not really the usual sort of thing that teachers do) to present a charming moment! As the sun was sinking it was magic! I shot it dark to enhance the silhouette and to intensify the colours in the sky. This image has won a couple of l awards and was part of a greeting card set called Light, Land and Water. Captured with a very old second-hand nikon 25-50 zoom. A great lens! Velvia scan. “Friends Forever” was featured in the group Dawn and Dusk Light.

My Website Been away for a few days and managed to shoot some landscapes. / Sorry for not catching up with everyone’s work but will try to catch up over the next day or so :) Solitude Standing Solitude stands by the window / She turns her head as I walk in the room / I can see by her eyes she’s been waiting / Standing in the slant of the late afternoon And she turns to me with her hand extended / Her palm is split with a flower with a flame Solitude stands in the doorway / And I’m struck once again by her black silhouette / By her long cool stare and her silence / I suddenly remember each time we’ve met And she turns to me with her hand extended / Her palm is split with a flower with a flame And she says “I’ve come to set a twisted thing straight” / And she says “I’ve come to lighten this dark heart” / And she takes my wrist, I feel her imprint of fear / And I say “I’ve never thought of finding you here” I turn to the crowd as they’re watching / They’re sitting all together in the dark in the warm / I wanted to be in there among them / I see how their eyes are gathered into one And then she turns to me with her hand extended / Her palm is split with a flower with a flame And she says “I’ve come to set a twisted thing straight” / And she says”l’ve come to lighten this dark heart” / And she takes my wrist, I feel her imprint of fear / And I say “I’ve never thought of finding you here” Solitude stands in the doorway / And I’m struck once again by her black silhouette / By her long cool stare and her silence / I suddenly remember each time we’ve met And she turns to me with her hand extended / Her palm is split with a flower with a flame Suzanne Vega
