Will it be sibling to me?” / ‘Yes it shall, it will grow by and by.” / And the trees stood and watched / the new reach for the sky…....” Author: adgray / See the rest of adgray’s writing inspired by / New Growth New Hope here. • On our way to the Blue Mts (west of Sydney NSW) over Christmas, we stayed in a Muswellbrook caravan park with horses up the back. Couldn’t resist getting out and about with camera in hand. I used the Smudge tool on the background a bit plus a soft diffuse glow. As you can see, he was in a paddock with junk lying everywhere – tin, tyres, bricks, pipes. Hence the background smudge here and there.

  • Droving Sheep at Albert © / Vicki Ferrari Albert, New South Wales, Australia. This was taken in the township itself, opposite the Rabbit Trap Hotel. Taken using negs back in approximately 1987. This would have to be one of my favourite photographs! I have scanned the 8X12 print and done some minor touching up (typical neg dust and scratch) with photoshop but apart from that, this image is as it is! Hope you like this! And thank you for looking (and reading!) Framed Print / (psj2)

  • Shot near the construction of the new Pier, North Bay at Kaikoura on New Zealand’s South Island. Very harsh light to deal with, thats why I like the clouds, you get lots more colour, drama and light balance. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens, with Cokin ND4 grad filter.

  • About Midway Beach, Gisborne, New Zealand. The tide was low and the clouds were rolling in, I was amazed by these cool cloud formations, a reflection was a must. Aotearoa, New Zealand is the land of the long white cloud. Place names are often difficult to translate, and the original derivation of Aotearoa is not known for certain. Many meanings have been given for the name. The word can be broken up as: aotea = cloud, and roa = long, (white being added in the translation as it is the most common colour of cloud) and it is accordingly most often glossed as "The land of the long white cloud". Seen this shot before? well yes you have, I first posted it some 6 months ago, seen here, for that shot I used my father as a model. So here is the simple version…. and yeah, its pushed a little further this time. The indigenous Māori named New Zealand Aotearoa, commonly translated as The Land of the Long White Cloud. The Realm of New Zealand also includes the Cook Islands and Niue (self-governing but in free association); Tokelau; and the Ross Dependency (New Zealand’s territorial claim in Antarctica). New Zealand is notable for its geographic isolation: it is situated about 2000 km (1250 miles) southeast of Australia across the Tasman Sea, and its closest neighbours to the north are New Caledonia, Fiji and Tonga. During its long isolation New Zealand developed a distinctive fauna dominated by birds, a number of which became extinct after the arrival of humans and the mammals they introduced. The population of New Zealand is mostly of European descent; the indigenous Māori are the largest minority. Asians and non-Māori Polynesians are also significant minority groups, especially in urban areas. The most commonly spoken language is English.

  • The winter solstice approaches. Since summer, the rays of light have become ever more indirect. For most people in the high latitudes the winter solstice is commonly known as the shortest day. At the Arctic Circle the sun does not rise at all on this day. Next week, however, (for us, Dec. 21) we will begin to gain light in tiny increments at first, and then in whopping five-minute chunks a day. Nikon D70, Nikkor 18-70mm lens / raw
