  • Vacuity… Just as fast as an echoe of dust particles sweeps around my brain, I’m able to feel how empty I am after all those injuries. A solemn vision of the failed project of having a soul, is exquisitely joined by the alien silence of the most intense experiences of being one. There is still no answer after removing the giant stones that cover my ears, and those desperate and distant screams no longer cause any impression to the senses. Void of possessions and ruled by the absence of instincts, there is no other option than travelling above the sharpened and deadly razor of vacuity, momentaneously secured by the rope made of what I once were… till it breaks… José Ramos

  • “YARRAGADEE” For millions of years, she has moved silently beneath this land, / her face and form unseen, yet her creations visible to all. / The freedom to give and receive has been her own, / the fragile balance held within her silent ebb and flow. She is the lifeblood of this region. “Yarragadee” was here long before we walked this land, and gave her a name. We have coexisted with her for generations and enjoyed her gifts, while never having seen her true beauty. Now her existence is threatened by clumsy hands and selfish appetites. Something sacred is about to be defiled. / That which is lost can never be regained. Don’t let our tears of regret become the new lifeblood of this land.

  • This is the second HDR image shot the other day on my girlfriend’s property.. I was inspired to try my hand at an HDR involving a dam after seeing some of the brilliant work here on the Bubble.. I think it turned out well and I liked how the image almost looks as though it is bent if you look at the tree line.. / As always comments are most welcome! Thanks a lot for looking! • Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Ettrick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (There is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) My first ever feature on the home page ages on 23rd April 2008 and what a party that was…LOL See also : ‘i am a rock’ and ‘LoL’ loch of the lowes

  • Where’s the water gone There’s a rather sad phenomenon that’s plaguing our great land / And just like the wary gambler it’s about to play it’s hand. / All the signs have been quite evident and round now for a spell / But we’ve fobbed them off, ignored them all, as far as I can tell. From the times of early childhood when my family drove around / All the creeks were full of water and the bores were rather sound, / Sure enough the droughts they came and went but mate, I have to say / that our Nation’s running kind of dry, hard times are on the way. Hey I think we’ve done our dash old son ‘cause what is going on. / All our dams and bores are getting low and where’s the water gone. / We will have to make some changes and mate make them pretty fast, / as the water’s disappearing and it sure as hell won’t last. Though we’ve held bad hands in years gone by we’ve always lived in hope, / that the rains were somewhere in the deck and til then we would cope. / But the evidence is ominous and looking rather bleak / and we’d do well to consider all the havoc it could wreak. We need each and every one of us to play a vital role, / as we’re playing for high stakes here and there’s need for self-control. / All will have to change the lifestyles that they’ve been accustomed to / And we’ll have to play our hands right and seek out an Ace or two. Hey I think we’ve done our dash old son ‘cause what is going on. / All our dams are bores are getting low and where’s the water gone. / We will have to make some changes and mate make them pretty fast, / As the water’s disappearing and it sure as hell won’t last. © Bush Poet and Ballad Writer Merv Webster / ©2008 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright. / Shot taken outback South Australia / 5 layered image

  • This image was taken at Honeymoon Bay, Freycinet Peninsula, Tasmania. I like it because it has a children’s storybook feel to it. I spent half an hour photographing a group of little girls playing under the tree. There were five more of them out of sight, closer to the water. These two were the teachers and the others were the class. In this shot one of the girls put her arm around the other (not really the usual sort of thing that teachers do) to present a charming moment! As the sun was sinking it was magic! I shot it dark to enhance the silhouette and to intensify the colours in the sky. This image has won a couple of l awards and was part of a greeting card set called Light, Land and Water. Captured with a very old second-hand nikon 25-50 zoom. A great lens! Velvia scan. “Friends Forever” was featured in the group Dawn and Dusk Light.

  • This has to be one of my favorite shots I have taken to date, as I was shooting Fiery Skies I noticed a pelican in the distance incomming, I raced back to this palm I had in the shots earlier, as I knew the fisherman to the left of frame would get the pelicans attention… Paid off, one of the frames used in this shot was a cool timing pelican landing :) I carefully pasted out the other captures of this pelican in the other frames, so the one was clear in the HDR. I was almost going to paste in the whole landing sequence, as I pumped up the ISO to get the camera shooting at max fps. I hope you enjoy this shot, was real fun making it, and shooting it! • Lithuania, Klaipeda region, Curonian spit / THIS SERIES FROM / August 14-16, 2009 : morning/day/evening/night CLICK FOR COMMENTS ! The Curonian Lagoon (or Bay, Gulf; Russian: Kуршский залив, Lithuanian: Kuršių Marios, Polish: Zalew Kuroński, German: Kurisches Haff) is separated from the Baltic Sea by the Curonian Spit. / In the 13th century, the area around the lagoon was part of the ancestral lands of the Curonians and Old Prussian people. Later it bordered the historical region of Lithuania Minor. At the northern end of the Spit, there is a passage to the Baltic Sea, and the place was chosen by the Teutonic Knights in 1252 to found Memelburg castle and the city of Memel. The town is officially called Klaipėda since 1923 when the Memel Territory was separated from the German Empire. / As the new Interwar border, the river that flows into the Curonian Lagoon near Rusnė (German: Ruß) was chosen. The river’s lower 120km in Germany were called die Memel by Germans, while the upper part located in Lithuania was known as Nemunas River. The border also separated the peninsula near the small holiday resort of Nida, Lithuania (German: Nidden); the southern part of the Spit and the Lagoon remained in Germany until 1945. / This border remains today, as after World War II, the southern end of the Spit and the German area south of the river, the part of East Prussia with the town Königsberg located in Sambia, became part an exclave of Russia called Kaliningrad Oblast.
