I love this, the convergence of the elements, and the feeling of being so inconsequential beneath this big sky.
Vacuity… Just as fast as an echoe of dust particles sweeps around my brain, I’m able to feel how empty I am after all those injuries. A solemn vision of the failed project of having a soul, is exquisitely joined by the alien silence of the most intense experiences of being one. There is still no answer after removing the giant stones that cover my ears, and those desperate and distant screams no longer cause any impression to the senses. Void of possessions and ruled by the absence of instincts, there is no other option than travelling above the sharpened and deadly razor of vacuity, momentaneously secured by the rope made of what I once were… till it breaks… José Ramos

this simple media piece…I don’t think I used but paint and pencil in this one…..was painted as a LOVE of mine….a projection of mine. His reflection…. one of solid presence projecting strength balance care space truth…..holder of HOME. Like I said, he WAS for me to see these qualities in myself. Now I can thank him. It has taken me some time….. From his heart flowers emerge to greet meet so sweet …from his head hand reaches to stars….is he from mars…..since he spoke so often of the wars….of the sexes….mind vexes….or maybe it’s ‘cause I’m from Texas? The distance definitely sweetens this dream…...

With the global economy caught in the gravity of the financial crisis, it’s sad that programs like the Constellation Project will have a long wait before anything truly gets off the ground. / / NASA’s Constellation Project is set up to finish the International Space Station, retire the Shuttle Fleet and build a whole new fleet of space vehicles which will take us back to the Moon, then Mars and then the places beyond. / / But with Congressional limitations and funding cutbacks due to the financial crisis, as well as being stuck with a complicated and restrictive “go as you pay” finance structure it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing any groundbreaking manned space flights in the naughties. / / This image represents a fleeting memory of a childhood dream to see man explore our planets and then the stars beyond and it’s one of the few things as a child I looked up to America for. / / The universe is a big place and we’re yet to make it out of our solar system but without programs like the Constellation Project, man may never ever get to make another giant leap. / / DETAIL / / / /

“In the Stillness of Night” Photography and Artwork / by Holly Kempe © A surreal adaptation of a lone tree on a hill overlooking the ocean, looking silently to the full moon for peace and tranquility. “Night, when words fade and things come alive. When the destructive analysis of day is done, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again. When man reassembles his fragmentary self and grows with the calm of a tree.” / ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry In the Stillness of Night was featured in the: Live, Love, Dream group – June 09 The Woman Photographer group – Nov 09
The mud edged its way toward the open sea. Sturdy walls melted into cracks between roots that playfully grew in twists and turns. A bird fondled the edge of hardened earth and slipped grass into holes created with its beak. Then flew away, searching for more. A lonesome spider marched across sliding sand and danced upon water dribbles that threatened to wash the soil with change and time. Yet the spider only thought of it as a dance. Sheltered footsteps filled with brown and silver slime and seeds floated to the top to find other galaxies other universes other stars other lifeforms other Gods other spirits other souls other playing fields other seas other soft safe shadows to burrow into, sprout and grow. It was only mud. Only Mud is acrylic on masonite 24”x36”
Lithuania, Klaipeda region, Curonian spit / THIS SERIES FROM / August 14-16, 2009 : morning/day/evening/night CLICK FOR COMMENTS ! The Curonian Lagoon (or Bay, Gulf; Russian: Kуршский залив, Lithuanian: Kuršių Marios, Polish: Zalew Kuroński, German: Kurisches Haff) is separated from the Baltic Sea by the Curonian Spit. / In the 13th century, the area around the lagoon was part of the ancestral lands of the Curonians and Old Prussian people. Later it bordered the historical region of Lithuania Minor. At the northern end of the Spit, there is a passage to the Baltic Sea, and the place was chosen by the Teutonic Knights in 1252 to found Memelburg castle and the city of Memel. The town is officially called Klaipėda since 1923 when the Memel Territory was separated from the German Empire. / As the new Interwar border, the river that flows into the Curonian Lagoon near Rusnė (German: Ruß) was chosen. The river’s lower 120km in Germany were called die Memel by Germans, while the upper part located in Lithuania was known as Nemunas River. The border also separated the peninsula near the small holiday resort of Nida, Lithuania (German: Nidden); the southern part of the Spit and the Lagoon remained in Germany until 1945. / This border remains today, as after World War II, the southern end of the Spit and the German area south of the river, the part of East Prussia with the town Königsberg located in Sambia, became part an exclave of Russia called Kaliningrad Oblast. The Donna Nook Grey Seal Colony / Taken today 19/11/09 The British population of grey seals is of great international conservation importance and we are fortunate to have a thriving colony on the Lincolnshire coast. For much of the year the seals are at sea or hauled out on distant sandbanks, but during the winter they come to breed near the dunes on the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve at Donna Nook. They are present on the beach in November and December. The RAF Bombing Range at Donna Nook provides the seals with a relatively disturbance-free site for hauling out. The seals are not the least bit concerned by the planes. Staff at RAF Donna Nook make every effort to make sure that no harm comes to any animal because of military activity. The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust manages Donna Nook as a Nature Reserve with the agreement of the Ministry of Defence. / PaulThompsonPhotography Canon 5D Mk2 / F5.6 / ISO 160 / 100-400L
