  • on my way to the art show …I was in a sad mood …don’t know why just sometimes it hits like that….anyway as I was driving I went over the bridge and a flock of birds flew over the water ....it was early morning and the moon was still out as parts of the sun were waking up …and I though how beautiful it would be if they could lift me fly me to wherever i could feel happy ….silly thoughts but the sence seem to boost me for the day…. i have a few more of these and I am calling them my daydreams series pastel and ink on wood panel 14”x14”

  • mixed media on masonite box I began this artwork after I experienced my first earthquake in Maui…not knowing where I was going with it…as usual. i had made a connection with Pele when i first arrived in the Hawaiian Islands. Before I had even landed and knew anything about the legend, I was drawing her in my journal. The legend always portrayed her as dark yet I never felt her that way. As she entered the art work I felt her seduction. It was a playful one. And so she BECAME creator/destroyer….....rising to heights well deserved….since within the destruction of her wake was left a newborn island. She gave us the rock of paradise. ...rainbows, sunshine, jungle flora, mountains, turquoise waters…......ALL of the juice of LIFE. Gotta LOVE her for that!!! / /

  • The wind blew the doors in / And came in unbidden / A cry heard itself / then was still, discovering itself

  • Coastal Mantra Series- Flying Meditation has been nominated for the prestigious Pay it Forward Group by Kellie Cranmer of Kcranmer Art Kellies quote to the group in submitting this image was: ”I chose this image because of the simple beauty it brings. Sometimes you can get the best impact by a bird flying…as nature would intend it to do…and Lina captured it so beautifully!! Also…Lina is one amazing soul. She is the type to care for others before herself (I feel that in her so much)...so it is my honor to nominate my friend Lina to the Pay it Forward…You deserve it girl and so much more!!! xoxoxoxox” I am completely honored. I feel Kellie knows and understands how much Art has healed my life and continues to open up the creative connections that fill me up to the brim. Thank you so much Kellie and to the Group Pay It Forward. I want you all to know how wonderful I feel today with such incredible news. • Mary Travers, one part of the folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary, which used beautiful, tranquil harmonies to convey the angst and turmoil of the Vietnam anti-war movement, racial discrimination and more, died Sptember 16, 2009, after a battle with leukemia. She was 72. Though their music sounded serene, Peter, Paul and Mary represented the frustration and upheaval of the 1960s, as a generation of liberal activists used their music not only to protest political policies, but also to spark social change. And even as the issues changed, and the fiery protests abated, the group remained immersed in musical activism. In 1963 the group performed their version of ‘If I Had a Hammer’ at the Civil Rights March on Washington, embracing the cause of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and furthering their message of humanity, hope and activism. “We’ve always been involved with issues that deal with the fundamental human rights of people, whether that means the right to political freedom or the right to breathe air that’s clean,” Mary Travers once said. Their honest and authentic music reached far and wide, and I imagine that people all over this land are now mourning the loss of Mary Travers. You had a song to sing, Mary, and you sang it with passion and intensity….may that song live on in this world, may your voice be forever heard…. If I Had a Hammer-Peter, Paul & Mary If I had a hammer, / I’d hammer in the morning / I’d hammer in the evening, / All over this land I’d hammer out danger, / I’d hammer out a warning, / I’d hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters, / All over this land. If I had a bell, / I’d ring it in the morning, / I’d ring it in the evening, / All over this land I’d ring out danger, / I’d ring out a warning / I’d ring out love between my brothers and my sisters, / All over this land. If I had a song, / I’d sing it in the morning, / I’d sing it in the evening, / All over this land I’d sing out danger, / I’d sing out a warning / I’d sing out love between my brothers and my sisters, / All over this land. Well I got a hammer, / And I got a bell, / And I got a song to sing, all over this land. Its the hammer of justice, / Its the bell of freedom, / Its the song about love between my brothers and my sisters, / All over this land. Its the hammer of justice, / Its the bell of freedom, / Its the song about love between my brothers and my sisters, / All over this land.

  • I was inspired by the poem of Happy Feet 5, written here she keeps it real, and lets the words that we think about YOU , flow into her pen.. thankyou , Iris A storm is a brewing and it’s calling my name / a storm is a brewing and it’s all in my brain. The thoughts are a swirling like twisters in my head / could this be the storm that I’ve become to dread? I feel like the Mad Hatter who has gone insane / and my thoughts are like the White Rabbit’s / who says “Rush, Rush, Rush / I’m late, late, late / Madness in my thoughts is again beginning to reign My hand takes the pen, / the pen with words starts to flow / the twisters that spin my thoughts are caught on paper / and kinder, friendlier winds start to blow. Now that what is left is a refreshing, gentle breeze / I realized that like Alice who on the ground knelt on her knees / I had fallen into a hole / I have fallen into RedBubble where writers itch / to take their magic pens and bare their very souls. Oh, Red Bubble, this time I put the blame on you for my anxiety / cause you have released the other side of the writer in me, / the one that speaks my truth, my fears, my rage, my realities. Do I dare with my truth out in the open now put the virgil down / and lay me down to rest? / Nay! I dare not, for the windvane never puts the ever-shifting winds / to a test. • The Donna Nook Grey Seal Colony / Taken today 19/11/09 The British population of grey seals is of great international conservation importance and we are fortunate to have a thriving colony on the Lincolnshire coast. For much of the year the seals are at sea or hauled out on distant sandbanks, but during the winter they come to breed near the dunes on the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve at Donna Nook. They are present on the beach in November and December. The RAF Bombing Range at Donna Nook provides the seals with a relatively disturbance-free site for hauling out. The seals are not the least bit concerned by the planes. Staff at RAF Donna Nook make every effort to make sure that no harm comes to any animal because of military activity. The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust manages Donna Nook as a Nature Reserve with the agreement of the Ministry of Defence. / PaulThompsonPhotography Canon 5D Mk2 / F5.6 / ISO 160 / 100-400L

  • About This Drawing / A sketch of my elderly Staffy cross dog, Flynn, lying betwen my feet during a break. Flynn was a survivor with a mangled face (car accidents) and pus coming out of one eye, and when I took him on over 11 years ago, the vets estimated he was 9 years old. Whatever his age, he is a very old dog and I don’t know how much longer he will be with me, as he is getting frailer by the day. The thought of having him put down is incredibly painful – and having handled stock on my 10 acre block for years, I am no stranger to death. But this dog is my love. I am putting this series up as a tribute to him Drawn 1 Nov 2009 with ballpoint pen on notepaper, enhanced in Fireworks.
