Met the wonderful Deepbluwater in LA, and not only did she organize this whole shoot in my, ‘dream home’ as far as interior design goes, but also modeled for me in the most perfect of ways. Angler fish really are quite remarkable creatures! They live in the deep deep sea, further down than the light can reach, so to lure their prey in total darkness, they have rigged up a system of light emitting devices. They are not turned on here (as he is in the light, and they use up a lot of power so he only turns them on when he is hungry). Watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte on canvas.

This is a view of my wall behind my computer with the light coming through my blind in the afternoon. I love the little patterns it makes on the wall and I couldn’t decide which one I liked most so I had to make a triptych. I hope you enjoy it too!

The fight hadn’t started easily and the finish wasn’t any closer, but once Jo brandished the lamp, the gloves were off. Thanks to Chris for modelling as well as Jess and Wen for their help as well.
