View of Crater Lake National Park, Oregon, USA, from a pullout on the West side. Wizard Island in the center. This is the smallest portion of the lake. The biggest part is on the other side of the Island. The lake is 6 miles long and 5 miles wide and almost 2,000 feet deep. It is an ancient volcano cauldron that sits on top of the Cascade mountain range. It is very accessible to visit, though. There is even wheelchair access.

Lost in Utah would have been a more apt title after the GPS affectionately known as “Dorothy” lead me to a graveyard instead of a lake lol. I discovered some gorgeous countryside along route. There is nothing better than getting lost :))
Seaplane on Lake Hood. The lake is actualy an aircraft and seaplane base located 5 km southwest of the center of Anchorage in the U.S. state of Alaska. This photo was taken at 11:30 PM. Acrylic painting. This painting was inspired by the lake that we visit in Northern California. The trees are so thick and there are layers and layers. I would love to work on more like this and get a better feel for the trees, but for now I enjoyed finding a way to show the beautiful pines as the caught a Moment of Sun. / / /
Yosemite, California, USA / Taken April 2, 2009 / As is; straight from the camera / Fuji Finpix S5700 S700 / SP ~ Landscape Mirror Lake is a historic landmark that will soon no longer exist. Not due to man alone. Mother Nature has decided this one herself. The hike to get to the lake has just as many beautiful stops along the way as the lake. Thank you for viewing. :) / 4th Place /

Glacier National Park, USA. It was one of those mornings when you could have heard a pin drop the air was so still. I heard a slight splash, and next thing a Beaver swam across the Lake right in front of me ! Absolutely the icing on the cake for me, though I know plenty who view the critter as a real nuisance ! Since I had the wide lens on the camera , I didn’t get a shot of it, but, what the heck , the light was playing my game on this day ! We also spotted a Black bear on the slopes of the mountain across the lake to my right. A day to cherish. Shot on a CANON EOS 40D, with polarising filter attached, and mounted on a tripod,. f22, 1/6sec, underexposed by one stop, iso 100, RAW file, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW, further adjustments in PS CS3, Levels, Curves, and finished with LAB colour. The Spirit Lake Tribe occupies most of the southern shores. Hydrology Devils Lake is the endorheic, or closed, lake of a drainage basin of some 3,800 mi² (9,800 km²),in the Devils Lake Basin. The lake itself collects around 86 percent of the basin’s water runoff. Above a level of some 1,447 ft (441 m)(NAVD88) AMSL the lake spills into neighboring Stump Lake. At 1,459 ft (445 m) (NAVD88)the combined lake flows naturally into the Sheyenne River, though the lake has not reached this level in approximately 1,000 years. The Sheyenne River is a tributary to the Red River, which flows into Canada, with eventual exit into the Hudson Bay. Flooding / / Historical Elevations of Devils Lake, 1860-2008 Devils Lake is well-known for its wild variations in lake levels, with large swings between low and high water levels. This owes in large part to its nature as a closed-basin lake, lacking a natural outlet. The release of water is dependent upon evaporation and seepage. The low, flat terrain of the region in which Devils Lake resides consists of various coulees, channels, and basins, which may be separated during times of low water, or connected during high water. Thus the boundaries of the lake can vary greatly from year to year, depending on the amount of precipitation. Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi, 55 mm lens, F stop: F/5.0 Exposure: 1/60 sec. Saint Mary’s Lake is in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. I believe I was rather lucky to get such a calm day as I witnessed here, since I was told that for quite some weeks they had been experiencing unusually bad weather for the time of year ! Glacier is an amazing place, with its primeval mountain shapes, and abundant wildlife, lakes and waterfalls, and many good trails. I was hearing the Elk bugling across the lake as I shot. I would recommend this magic place to anyone ! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, polarising filter, f22, 1/30 sec, iso 100, auto WB, Raw file, processed in Adobe CS3, selective levels/curves and selective colour adjustments. I sharpened with Intellisharpen 2. FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/dslr-users-only-3-a-day / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/streams-brooks-creeks SEE MORE OF MY “USA” SET HERE …
Mount Shuksan is in the North Cascades National Park, Washington State, USA. / This part of the USA is known as “The Pacific North West.” We arrived here good and early, before the crowds arrived, and since there is a highway running all the way to “Artist Point” it can indeed get busy , I guess owing to the fact that it is easily accessible from the Seattle region, straight off the Interstate from Bellingham, an easy drive of less than two hours, and not too remote, / I spotted some postcards and tourist brochures with a variety of images of this scene, and determined to see it for myself. Glad I did. I would love to see this when snow blankets the ground ! “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” JOHN MUIR Shot on a CANON EOS 20D, mounted on a tripod, polarising filter attached, f22, 1/30 sec, iso 100, auto wb, 18-55mm lens, / set at 18mm, RAW file, processed as much as possible in Adobe Camera Raw then CS3, usual levels/curves adjustments, LAB colour, Intellisharpen used.
