I am proud to unveil a new painting from my studio entitled, “Segawa Kikunjojo II”. (Dancing The Part Of Yamauba) My painting is styled after ancient (1760 era) Japanese Graphic art, by artists like Tori Kiyomitsu Ga and Eshi Tori Kiyomasu Hitsu and based on paintings like, The Autumn Moon Above Ishi Mountain and Segawa Kikunojo II, Dancing the Part of Yamuba. / This is the first in my study paintings of ancient Japanese artwork. It was a very intense and rewarding piece to work on. Every line and brush stroke needed to be calculated and yet also flow with an ease and grace. This is my first original painting in a series of many I intend to delve into over the next year. / I am very drawn to Japanese art and grew up with traditional Japanese artwork in my home. The beauty of this type of art has always captured me, as I hope my work will for you as well. Here are some photos of my art as it is being created and completed…enjoy! xoxo

The original work of art, a 50×70 cm hand painted canvas (framed) has been SOLD to Phil and Lorraine, Gokova, Turkey 28 June 2009. Following my recent Art Exhibition in Gokova I approached a local bar-resturant and enquired as to whether they would be interested in displaying my original works. We negotiated a percentage commission on sale. This is the first to be bought from this venue. Today Phil and Lorraine purchased the second in the series. A very happy end to a very happy week. Thankyou!

This painting, I just found out, rather by accident, has been featured in ADAWG. Not gong to take the time to look up the link for the group, as I am thoroughly convinced anyone who is looking at my work already belongs to it; or, at least, knows where to find the link on other works of mine. Thank you for the feature, and if I say thank you some more again, later, it is only because I’m scatter—brained! Now, the All Things Orange Group: I wrote about them on this same painting, as it was firmly rejected in all aspects of it that were uploaded at the time. I posted that on the description, along with my email to the co-hosts. One of those co-hosts replied back to me, wonder of wonders, and then went even further than that, by acknowledging that they were probably the person who rejected them and telling me to submit them again. The ones that I did submit again were accepted. They were right about one of them, though, for, even though the whole painting is predominantly orange, it really didn’t show in one detailed scan I had uploaded. I think this is an attribute among co-hosts that should be praised, and followed as an example. What she did was wonderful, and it would have still been wonderful if I was wrong, as was pointed out by the fact that in one part I was very definitely wrong at the time. Come to think of it, my example should also be praised and followed: I read the rules, I posted, work was rejected, I re-read the rules and group description, I contacted all the co-hosts (letting them know this was happening) and asked for information without calling anyone a filthy name. I know, from my stint as co-hosts of a group, polite queries and lack of filthy name-calling really make a co-host feel more like replying; especially, most especially, when coupled with a good reason for the query even existing. Anyway, I did very much appreciate the response. It was mature, responsible, friendly, but not overly apologetic: very good response for a host of a group. Thank you ADAWG, you lovely beings, for the feature, and thank you All Things Orange for putting up with me, too. lol

When I began on Red Bubble, I made a digital painting as sort of a celebration, a good launch as it were: Washi The thing is, I tend to, you see, save some steps separately along the way, in case of program failure or change of whim, or etc. I ended up with several steps saved of ‘Washi’, and, in the end, even though I loved the result, it didn’t make it easier to give up some of the other ones. I ended up uploading a variation as the very next piece: Washi Iredine Variation 2 Several other of the steps were set aside, on a disk, for possible future inspirational needs, or for the writing of journals, or such as that. Tonight, I tried to finish them off, going in different directions, so that I could upload them and be done with them. There were four of them, I think; maybe, five. Now, there are more like 11 of them, because I just created several new variations that I like about equally to each other and to the original saved steps. I could quickly go mad, trying to sort out what to do with them. It’s really too many of the same basic design to upload, but ..they are pretty. So ..??? Feel free to give advice, if you like, but mostly this is me just moaning and whining, outloud; so to speak (so to speak! )

Many thanks to the anonymous person who purchased a canvas print of graffiti in Melbourne’s Hosier Lane. I hope you enjoy the work! I understand that the blue lady has been painted over in the past few months, which is a shame. I’m glad I managed to take the picture while it was still relatively intact! This is what she looks like now And here is the original: In other news, a woman from an online mapping service in the USA noticed some of my photos on Flickr. She asked if she could include some of them in an upcoming guide of Berlin, and I said ok. So here is the link to the Berlin Zoo, and a picture of one of the adorable sandcats I found there. It’s super cool to see your name in print like that! Finally,I must say that I’ve been very busy lately, so I haven’t had much time on the bubble. I apologize for not being able to attend to all your new works, but I will try to rectify that soon! I hope you are all doing well and that you have found many inspiring photographic opportunities in your day! Cheers and thanks again / Louise

Today i finished 2 more old boats inspired by grand old ladies of the sea on Sydney’s Pittwater. There are many -some in dilapidated state -some lovingly restored and cared for. First i’ll do a series of the motorboats and then maybe yachts. / These are sculptures on canvas made from paper, tin, metal, blasa wood and stings and ropes. Anything from my bower bird studio with the collected bits and pieces. / I HATE winter and i say this every winter. It’s cold, bleak, grey, raining and gets dark every early. I ran this morning at 5:30am in the dark, cold, rain and i get home while it’s still the same. / Last weekend i sewed ALL weekend: costumes for my daughter’s dance group. 17 costumes all up for little girls 10-12 years old. Last night i fitted them all -sewed all their straps etc and they looked great. / Tomorrow i clean up the paint mess in the studio and i start furntiure again for a while to go into Ye Olde Bicycle Shop (YOBS) at Bundanoon in the southern Highlands. It’s owned by Huw Kingston and he’s been selling our Apres Velo Tee shirts down there. I’ll make up 3 tables and chairs to go with them. I hope it stops raining so i can resin top my tables into which i inlay cogs, spokes and any other bike bits i get my grubby little hands on. / I go and raid the bike shop throw out bins. Scavenger chic. That’s me. I have been experimenting with Sour Dough bread. Some successes and some flops i think due to cold weather. yesterday my dough didn’t rise at all. it had heaps of dried fruit in it so maybe it was too heavy and the house was too cold. Very frustrating. I have eaten nearly all of it though, as it was pretty yummy, flopped and all. I hope to ride my mountain bike this weekend with my Nobmob friends. It’s been too cold & wet for me to ride the night rides and i haven’t ridden for weeks now. I’m doing a MTB skill workshop down in Wingello next month so i have to get out there so i dont’ disgrace myself….i’m sure i will, it’ll be OTH in front of everyone, into mud or cow poo or something equally as glamorous. My speciality. Busting -gotta go. Hi to Shelley who keeps tabs on me by reading my blog. EMAIL me Shelley! :)
