She moves like the wind that flows through the fabric of her kimono and she floats as if she were born from the clouds. Her strength was given to another and her life will live on…” / ~ Carrie Glenn / CarrieGlennStudios.Com

Featured in Ladybugs May 23, 2009 and in Urban Wildlife July 11, 2009 Featured on RB’s Homepage August 15, 2009 / All summer I searched for ladybugs in our gardens. I did find a few but not near AS MANY as in my own home over the winter months. I lost count of how many I gathered up from nooks and crannies and placed in a little aquarium in one contained apartment. I do NOT like to kill bugs and putting them outside in the snow was not an option. My next dilemma…what to feed them? Apparently they like Cheerios! For those just itching to know, they also like raisins and sliced green grapes :) Little droplets of water each day and they made out just fine. Now that Spring has arrived the surviving ladies have all been put back outside :) Canon Rebel EOS XTi with Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. Manual Mode, SS 1/80, f/5.6, ISO 200. The ladybirds have returned in significant numbers at Mt Burr again. This is a small cluster on dead and dried ferns. (if you look closely you will see them underneath as well) Always a pleasure to watch these little beauties crawling around in their thousands. Canon 400D, 18 – 55 with two stage macro extension tubes and speedlight. I am often asked, “just how thick are these?” Well the photo below is just an example of how thick they settle when they arrive!!!!
Ladybirds again from the Mt Burr area. More flowers taken out to them recently and they blend so well with the colours. Shot taken within the Mt Burr Forest, South East South Australia. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with three stage extension tubes.
While on holiday in the Hunter Valley I found a mass of lady beetles under a communications cabinet at the base of a mobile phone tower…

18×24 acrylic on canvas I painted this one for The Divine Feminine’s challenge “Loving Ladies”. This is my favorite goddess of Love, Lakshmi. This is not your traditional painting of Lakshmi, for instance, I didn’t give her 4 arms. But I think it captures her beauty and femininity. Lakshmi is also the goddess of beauty and wealth. She is kind of like the goddess of the law of attraction. In truth, Lakshmi teaches us to accept our beauty and to find true happiness in the realization of the abundance of our soul.
