It also stop salt sprey clinging itself on the camera too.) / - Stand in front of an on coming wall of sea water (Being scare sh#tless): PRICELESS!

Now for something completely different. An oldie but a goldie from the analouge vaults of a mama swimming in a rock pool down Coogee way. This is a straight b/w film capture with no tricky stuff done to it. It is as it was when I snapped it. I’ve always been taken with this matronly look possibly because I’ve always been a bit on the bony side but maybe because the woman in this picture looks like a mama. I love her to bits.

The Lady of the Lake / Mixed Medium / The Lady of the Lake was the ruling Priestress of Avalon and is know as Viviane, Nyneve, she was Fay not mortal. As a young girl she enchanted Merlin who taught her all his secrets, she later became the foster mother to Sir Lancelot. King Arthur had fought a long battle and would not have lived save for Merlin who brought the King to a hermit who had studied the art of healing, and cured all his wounds in three days. As they rode together Arthur said, ‘I have no sword,’ but Merlin bade him be patient and he would soon give him one. / In a little while they came to a large lake, and in the midst of the lake Arthur beheld an arm rising out of the water, holding up a sword. ‘Look!’ said Merlin, ‘that is the sword I spoke of.’ ‘That is the Lady of the Lake,’ said Merlin, ‘and she is coming to you, and if you ask her courteously she will give you the sword.’ / So when the maiden drew near Arthur saluted her and said, ‘Maiden, I pray you tell me whose sword is that ? / I wish it were mine, for I have lost my sword. / ‘That sword is mine, King Arthur,’ answered she, and I will give it to you, if you in return will give me a gift when I ask you. / ‘By my faith,’ said the King, ‘I will give you whatever gift you ask.’ / ‘Well,’ said the maiden, ‘get into the barge and row yourself to the sword, and take it and the scabbard with you.’ For this was the sword Excalibur. ‘As for my gift, I will ask it in my own time.’ As they rode the King looked lovingly on his sword, which Merlin saw, and, smiling, said, Which do you like best, the sword or the scabbard? ‘I like the sword,’ answered Arthur. ‘You are not wise to say that,’ replied Merlin, ‘for the scabbard is worth ten of the sword, and as long as it is buckled on you you will lose no blood, however sorely you may be wounded.” / Available as an art print, card, canvas, mounted print and poster. / Image copyright © 2009 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited /
/ Medium Size Print/Cherry Frame/Off White Matt Watercolour crayons, watercolour pencils, faber castell pencils, ink, acrylic, wax, gesso acrylic, chalk pastel, pen, charcoal on paper This began as a drawing while on holiday at an island resort, it’s one of those paintings that seemed to have a mind of it’s own, and wanted to be painted a certain way…even though I had different ideas, this is the end result. LOL I was originally going to colour her very gently with wax and soft pastels…but she became more and more vibrant as I went along. Perhaps the colouring says something of how vibrant we become when we are well rested, balanced and relaxed.

Young woman behind the glass with the drops of rain
/ / ancient chinese music to accompany the folk tale Ancient Chinese Folk Tale Once upon a time, a long time ago ….. On a warm spring day, in Xia times, some children went out in the fields to play. In those days, if you had a problem you went to see the local wise woman. In this village, the wise woman’s name was Loawnu. Alarmed at what they saw in the fields, the children ran up the hill to Loawnu’s house. “Loawnu,” they shouted. “The sky is falling down!” Loawnu smiled at the children. “Don’t be worried. Find all the pieces of sky that have fallen, and bring them to me. I’ll sew them together again in time for the festival.” The spring festival was nearing. This was a time when the young people gathered from many villages to meet one another and to find husbands and wives. The children’s village had been honored this year as the meeting village. It would be a horrible time for the sky to fall down. The village would be disgraced! Off the children ran to pick up the pieces. But some were missing! “Loawnu!” cried the children, as they tore up the hill, breathing heavily. Loawnu only smiled. The next day, the children ran outside and looked up. The sky looked as it always looked on a warm spring day, clean and fresh and blue. They were so happy. That night, they were amazed! The sky had always been dark at night. That night, it was filled with light! Loawnu had patched the missing pieces of sky with bright twinkling light! How beautiful! How clever! We shall have the happiest spring festival in all the land! How lucky we are to know Loawnu! All the village agreed. story borrowed from here
