  • Don’t worry, I will be digging him out later!!!

  • welder working with sparks flying at him

  • I’ve been busy on commissions but put together a Ms Julia Gillard – a face I’ve not seen caricatured too frequently – in fact I don’t think I’ve seen one, plenty of cartoons. About 5 hours work on Photoshop CS3.

  • A nurse at the brand new Bassett Army Community Hospital, makes final measurements of a newborn under the lights of the warming machine in one of the labor and delivery rooms. There has been a post deployment baby boom on the base of Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, after the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team returned from a 16 month deployment last year. Over 120 babies were born in the month of September alone. Fairbanks, Alaska September 2007

  • One for the party faithful.

  • Firewood for tonight by flyingdocphotos. / Village woman from Bromo, East Java Indonesia. This image was taken in a small village on the outskirts of the Bromo caldera volcanic region of eastern Java, Indonesia. I was playing around with my 100mm macro lens, capturing some spider pictures then this lady appeared down the trail, emerging from the fog. I stood at the side of the road, smilied and raised my camera as she drew close. As she saw me, she smiled, nodded back, posed and I took a snap. Then (I think she thought I was going to take only one photo) she started walking along again, focusing on the uphill path in front of her – and that’s when I clicked my shutter again, capturing this image.

  • A Bishnoi woman, in India’s Great Thar Desert, keeps her environment clean. Her village, located in Rajasthan, is about 30km from the Pakistani border. She uses a broom made from a bundle of straw bound together. / From what I could see, she was doing little more than stirring up dust. But anyhow, it made for a good photo!

  • Image by photographer Glennis Siverson, www.glennisphotos.com. This was captured in rural China, near the city of Yangshuo. We were exploring the countryside when we spotted some workers in a rice field. We pulled over and asked if we could take some photos. It was quite amusing to the workers, as this is their everyday existence. We, on the other hand, were demonstrably excited about our “find”. :-) Typical crazy photographers!

  • It is important to note the ‘worker’ in this image—it makes the title of the piece make sense. A quick zoom is shown below: / This card is from a much larger, high quality limited edition print.

  • For a change I wasn’t the one welding so I took the oppurtunity to get a few shots in.Always enjoyable watching someone else work.

  • Daddy Bluebird took some time off this afternoon and let Mama do the hunting. He spent a long while just sitting on a branch, looking at his surroundings, and striking one impressive pose after another. He was quite the show-off.

  • 18”x24” / acrylic on wood / 2007

  • this was taken last night in knoxville, tn, for the boomsday celebration. boomsday ( i found out 2years after moving here) is the celebration for the last day of summer. the fireworks are shot off the main bridge that leads into knoxville. / about 250,000 people come to watch this firework display. unfortunately last night there wasnt enough wind to blow away the smoke from the fireworks, so getting a “great shot” of the fireworks themselves was virtually impossible. / this smoke was coming off the water after a display had gone off that they shoot from the water. the hole in the smoke was totally awesome, dont have a clue of what caused it. the lights within the hole are from boats on the water viewing the fireworks. you cant really see the bridge they shoot fireworks off of, due to the thick cloud of smoke / even tho disappointing as it was with the smoke not clearing from the show, it was still well worth going to see. if you’re ever in this area around labor day weekend, id recommend taking the time out to view this fireworks show. / best if viewed larger / this has been touched up for me by Marianne Venegoni all she did was remove the boat at the bottom left and the limb that refused to get out of the shot, it hasnt been cropped, she is a master at cloning! The smoke and everything else has not been altered or the effect created, this IS how the smoke was coming off the water. / Thanks for doing this for me :) / this is the original shot… /

  • Because in the english language the phrase “Labor Creates all Wealth” doesn’t make obvious sense because it’s not clear what “Wealth” refers to. It could mean “labor creates all of rich people’s money” or it could mean “Labor creates the wealth of society”, but what is the wealth of society? It’s an indeterminate term. Saying that Labor builds society is more straightforward because that’s what we’re talking about, how workers have literally been the ones to build society and the ones that keep it going through their jobs. From a sharpie pen drawing I did and colored it in Photoshop.
