40cm x 45cm acrylics and collage on canvas. As yet another art course project for tafe, our imaginative lecturer wanted us to take 2 masterpieces by high profile artists and imagine, metaphorically if they’re were to be married and to have a child, paint what that child would look like! We could either make them not work together purposely to make a statement or blend them into a new image. This is man ray’s woman with cello ‘f’ holes and one of Kurt Shwitters’ collages (mostly painted but also collaged). At first i didn’t like this too much but after I got stuck into it I fell in love and this has been my favorite painting of mine ever since.

The late Kurt Cobain’s death was a mystery by all accounts. He was found with a gunshot wound administered through the roof of his mouth. Very little blood was visible, and his system contained massive amounts of cocaine. A fairly lengthy suicide note was left behind explaining his disappointment with his career, etc. / But Eldon ‘El Duce’ Hoke, singer of an L.A. punk band called “The Mentors”. Claims Courtney Love offered him $50,000 to kill Kurt in December 1993. Hoke was administered a polygraph test by Dr. Edward Gelb, who was one of the country’s leading polygraph experts. Hoke passed with 99.7% certainty that he was telling the truth. Hoke was also later found dead on April 19, 1997 after friends say he went for a walk with someone they’ve never seen before. He was found on a railway track having been hit by a train while intoxicated. All very suspicious. This image was completed in charcoal and pastels. A little something from one of my absolute favorite horror/thrillers, “The Thing.” Decapitated heads growing spider legs, crazy blood tests, and it all takes place in the middle of a frozen nowhere. It just doesn’t get any better than this film.
