The old woman, the tales she could tell – Krakow is a changing city that is held in its own history.
A row of arches by the main market square in Krakow.
Another SC attempt! Taken at the Castle in Krakow
This church lies in one corner of the Rynek Glowny (Market Square) in the centre of Cracow, Poland. It dates from the second half of the fourteenth century, is now a minor basilica, and contains some beautiful carvings by Veit Stoss (Wit Stwosz).
Taken on a March day after a light fall of snow. This street lies near Wawel Castle in Cracow, Poland.
The Jews of Cracow (Krakow) enjoyed protected status in 14th century Poland, but by the end of the 15th century were forced to move to this district, south of the city. They suffered terribly during the second world war, though much of the action of the film “Schindler’s List”, though shot here, took place in another district on the other side of the Vistula river. Kazimierz is full of picturesque old streets like this. Taken with the synagogue behind me. Pentax K10D.
I liked the lines as I looked upwards at this building in Krakow.
There are plenty more doors like this in old Kazimierz, Cracow, Poland. From the photographer’s view, I hope they don’t get the attention or they wouldn’t look the same!
Street scene from Krakow using the annual Photo Exhibition as a backdrop. The main image is by Lauren Greenfield, part of her series called ’ Girl Culture’. Very impressive.

‘Smok Wawelksi’ the fire-breathing dragon of legend outside his lair – Krak the apprentive shoemaker overcame him so resourcefully in the thrilling tale and went on to marry the kings daughter and gave his name to Krakow in Poland. This lovely city is a world heritage site full of amazing churches and architecture .. tho in a a rushed family visit it was hard to do justice to the beauty of the place
