  • This is the shot you must take if you go to Broome… the camel train at sunset on Cable Beach. The tide was on the way out and the residual water gave great reflections. / Taken on Nikon D200 with 18-200mm Nikkor lens / Aperture F16 Speed 1/80s

  • This another shot from Cable Beach. I couldn’t decide whether I liked this better with the more vivid colour or the shot of the whole train. Can you help?

  • This is yet another Kimberley shot. I was taken my the colour contrasts and starkness of the landscape. This is a pretty small boab tree but contrasted the vivid red dirt and blue sea near Broome.

  • This is an underground creek underneath the Napier Ranges in the Western Kimberley. It is famous for being the hideout for Jandamarra (Pigeon), the leader of a group of Aborigines who in the late 1800’s where resisting the invasion of their land. They captured stock and were involved in sieges killing white settlers. This cave (hardly visible from the surrounding range) is said to have been his ideout for a number or years. He was killed in a police raid in 1897. The tunnel itself in 750 metres long and is collapsed in the middle letting in natural light. You can walk from one end to the other but get wet feet!

  • The colours of the sunset here are tremendous. It is a pleasure to watch the changing colours long after the sun sets, the lights come on and all the other sunset watchers leave (before the best bit!!!). This is the second night we spent in Derby. I have also uploaded the shot from the first night but can’t decide which I prefer. The colours were different on the two nights due to fire in the area.
