“Desabandhascittasya Dharana The mind has reached the ability to be directed (dharana) when the direction towards a chosen object is possible in spite of many other potential objects within the reach of the individual.” Yoga Sutra 3.1 / Translated by T.K. V. Desikachar
This is a collaboration between my daughter, Brianna (13), and myself. :) She’s a fantastic photographer for her age..she amazes me much of the time. She showed me this photo that she took, and I begged her to let me work on it. :) (yes…I had to beg! Teenagers..ya know?) Anyway, she’s been studying Japanese for a little over 2 years now, so when I asked her what we should call it, she said simply: ki. / Japanese for tree.. / / / >featured< / homepage / / /
This is a detail shot of a commissioned portrait of “Ki’. This lovely 3yo girl was lost to cancer much to the sorrow of her owner, who did everything she could to give Ki a great life. The day we went out for the photo shoot Ki was so happy and full of life, playing fetch in the park with us. Ki was the perfect model, providing me with beautiful photos to work with. The presentation of the portrait to the owner was emotional indeed. / Colour pencil and white gouache on mat board. 25×36cm 2008 Has been featured in the ‘Cats and Dogs’, Pencil Drawing’ and ‘Painted Dogs’ groups.

The literal meaning of Ki So Ten Gai is an unusual idea falls down from the sky. The english equivalent meaning could be translated to a most unexpected idea, out of the ordinary. I used this title for a series of artworks I did during the year 2005 through the year 2006. The title was inspired by the trees. I’m fascinated by them. I did a lot of photos with trees as subject in that period and my eyes were constantly directed toward the sky to find a good shot. That seems to me a religious or somewhat mystical behavior. It was like I was waiting for inspiration to come from outside of myself. The title was inspiring for further artworks in the series depicting flowers. I put the subjects at the bottom of the vertical canvas leaving empty spaces at the top. Some flowers are even pointing upwards as if they were intimately tied to some mysterious force. I had found kanji symbols representing this concept and I discretely placed it on my artworks, anyway I recently removed them from a certain number of images, to achieve a clean and cluttered free result. In addition the absence of kanji fits better with cards!

The Ki So Ten Gai extra series differentiate itself for an established visual consistency. This result has been attained with an homogeneous use of digital manipolation techniques. From this moment on my the artworks will be more akin to ancient far east art than before. The Use of subtle colors along with vivid ones and the introduction of visual solutions that conjure up Manga-esque images, are the key features that set apart these special artworks from the rest of the collection.

This is a new series based on the previous Ki So Ten Gai concept. / The grunge series is more oriented toward graphical and typographical experimentation with an intense use of texturing and multilayered grahic techniques. The main subjects remain flowers, trees and other botanical species, digitally treated in such a way to get quite a pictorial look. For more information about the Ki So Ten Gai concept and its literal meaning, please take a look at one of my previous work description.

A closed up bar in Jersey. I love the dereliction yet vibrant colours of this property. I wonder what tales it could tell of activities in its past?
It was captured inside the forte of Maharani(Queen) Laxmi Bai located at Jhansi, UP, India. It was built in 18th century.

Usui Reiki Symbol / Sei He Ki / The Emotional Symbol Sei = I point / He = the Bow, Arrow to / Ki = Life-force, Light, Awareness / / This strange symbol looks like a human head with two bumps on the places of the eighth chakra (the cosmic chakra where divinity connects with our physical existence and place of the soul akasha) and the tenth chakra (place of mystical talents and inner sight). Therefore alternative meanings of the Sei He Ki are ‘Remember Your Self’ and ‘God and humanity becoming one’. Pointing your arrow to awareness means bringing your attention to your feelings, emotions, patterns and psychology in order to understand and heal them. Sei He Ki restores emotional balance and harmony. Please understand that many diseases and problems have their roots in negative emotions and false beliefs. This symbol is used for the healing of bad habits, addictions, emotional trauma and heavy feelings like anger, frustration or jealousy. That makes this symbol another good one against bad vibrations and negative entities. A good symbol for inner calmness and the release of blockages Reiki Wear Collection / A Reiki symbol to wear all day everyday or even to sleep in,for those moments when you need a bit of healing but dont have enough time to even stop and scratch yourself……..just throw on the shirt and away you go ……....its all too easy
An original SP of myself during meditation.. Layered using my own textures in photoshop CS4 which are original photographs of stormy clouds and enhanced using GIMP which was used to create each of the Chakra.. The entire image consists of 6 layers in total…. This is an image that has a huge significance in my life.. Both mentally & physically.
