  • In cryptography, Fialka (M-125) is the name of a Cold War-era Soviet cipher machine. A rotor machine, the device uses 10 rotors, each with 30 contacts along with mechanical pins. “Fialka” means “violet” in Russian. Information regarding the machine was quite scarce until circa 2005 because the device had been kept secret. Fialka contains a five-level paper tape reader on the right hand side at the front of the machine, and a paper tape punch and tape printing mechanism on top. The punched-card input for keying the machine is located on the left hand side. This example is currently on display at Bletchley Park near Milton Keynes, home of the Enigma code breakers of World War II. From the same collection as Kezboard

  • I love the piano. It is the one instrument that when i sit down to play, it seems that whatever else is going on in my world just falls away and the music and it’s beauty take over. I love it!!!

  • Radio London History / The UK had no radio to speak of prior to 1964. Offshore, or “pirate”, stations began broadcasting from ships and forts in the North Sea. These stations played a massive part in the 1960’s culture. People have never forgotten Radio London because in 1964, it brought listeners something they never heard before – American format radio and jingles. Some dear friends of mine in Colorado have a band called Radio London and they have just launched a website with their music, history and scheduling for future music endeavors. / Their Vintage Rock sound with a touch of R&B is quite a dancing combination, this T-shirt design is their logo and all sales proceeds will go to them!

  • Everyone has seen the paintings of the roses on a piano keyboard symbolizing romance, etc… But, does this really motivate a child to practice. I don’t think so. Driven by humor, this piece was originally going to be titled “I thought I told you to practice.” After running the idea past a friend of mine, he suggested calling it “Chopstix.” Although, he wanted me to add a couple severed fingers to the piece which is not really my style. I opted to leave the fingers out of the painting despite his insistence. The piece is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The interaction of this paint and paper cause some fantastic granulation effects. It’s original size is 14” x 10”. 5th Place Finisher in On The Edge challenge. / 4th Place Finisher in Sharp & Dangerous Metals challenge. / Featured in Realist Traditional Art group in August 2009. /
