  • Away from Shetland for a short break and back down to Perthshire for a view of some larches in the remarkably inappropriately named “Dull Wood”! / The view from up here (about 1,000 feet) is mind-boggling but sometimes it can pay to look up even further. It was blowing a blizzard one moment and then it would clear to leave a sparkling paradise. / Thanks for looking, / Richard Tech detls / Nikon D200 / Sigma 17-35mm @17mm / f8 1/40s / ISO100

  • Not a very inspiring name I grant you but this view down into the Tay valley from Dull Wood was awe-inspiring especially as there were blizzards blowing by every few minutes: one moment sunny, the next you could hardly 50 yards. / In between, the light shifted rapidly and I managed to get this shot just as a blizzard was coming. It’s a bit of a ‘brrr’ image but I hope you like it:-) / Thanks for looking. / Richard Tech detls / Nikon D200 / Sigma 17-35mm @20mm / 1/160s f6.3 / ISO100

  • This interesting life-size metal piper can be found at Kenmore Village in the Breadalbane region of Highland Perthshire (Breadalbane means “Highland Scotland” in Gaelic). • Kenmore Village, a beautiful little town in the Breadalbane region of Highland Perthshire (Breadalbane means “Uplands of Scotland” in Gaelic) guarding the east of Loch Tay, itself dominated by the Kenmore Hotel and the impressive cruciform church housed in the square. The church, which occupies a prominent position on a promontory at the east end of the Loch was built in 1760. It was possibly designed by William Baker, but was remodelled to its present form in 1870. • Kenmore was an interesting village in Scotland. We were travelling in a car and staying at B&Bs. They did not always provide evening meals, so we we would pop around to a local pub and eat. At Kenmore the local pub at that time of year, did not provide meals to strangers. They were set up for anglers, and cooked their fish etc. We could go to a town some miles away and get something to eat, but nothing at Kenmore. The next morning we were up walking early and discovered a lovely golf course where the frost was crisp on the ground. The golfers were out though. Taken with Pentax LX camera and Pentax 28 mm shift lens on Kodachrome
