Conte Crayon on paper. This one is inspired by my favourite work, “Collins Street at 5 pm” by John Brack. I was thinking of Flinders Street/ Spencer Street Stations when I drew this. I just used to get lost in the human sea of faces that use to flow up and down Melbournes Streets and they conjured up all sorts of feelings and emotions.

Original is oil pastel on paper. I just can’t seem to fully move on from the Alice thing.
-
Original Acrylic on paper, Bit more Blackman with this one.
-
Original was pencil, ink drawing. Wouldn’t you love to do be able to do this sometimes? Often we are required to put on a face that does not reflect how we feel. This is kind of the idea that we can do this and still keep the integrity of our real feelings below.
-
Original is watercoloured pencil pre-wash. Alice begins to get frustrated with all those who offer help but are no help at all.
-
Alice and friends, pen and ink with a touch of computer altering
-

Gateway to the West of Melbourne. I lived on the wrong side of the Yarra and Maribyrnong while going to Uni many, many, many years ago back when Willie Beach was somewhere you went to get beaten up. Original was a Conte Crayon Drawing which now proudly hangs in Mum’s hall way. Early work of mine.

Original is oil paint on canvas. Inspired by Binney Street, Euroa and every other town like her. As you can gather from the title, I had a bogan upbringing. Small towns, great life in retrospect but bugger all to do. In fairness to my hometown, there is a little more than a milkbar, pub and the co-op, but not much more, Still we had fun, sort of. For all those who are, like me at heart, repressed bogans, the cars are based on an EK or FB ute and an EH or EJ Holden ute…. you decide. Just one note, if this makes no sense I was a little pickled when I painted it.

Original was an oil painting

I know what I said but I still have to keep going with Alice. Oil pastel on paper. “The cat only grinned when it saw Alice. It looked good natured, she thought. Still, it had very long claws and a great many teeth, so she felt that it ought to be treated with repect.” -Lewis Carroll
-
Oil Painting inspired by my days as a volunteer firefighter. Something we face every Summer in Australia. In some areas you can live in constant fear of the threat of fire. Not sure if I’ve finished this one yet, but hey, I’ll give it a run. Two of the prime objectives of a fire fighting organisation is to protect life and protect property. Here the characters are endeavouring to do both without a thought that they are putting their own lives at risk.

I was bored today so I tried out some water based oil pastels.
