When the weight of the 12 bells of London’s St Martin’s in the Fields became too heavy for the aging structure of the church it was decided to replace them with a lighter peal. These bells, first cast in the 14th century, together with with 6 more cast especially to add to them, were presented to the City of Perth as a gift to mark Australia’s Bi-centenerary. What to do with them became the next question. After many years, and much debate, a bell tower was commissioned to be placed by the Swan River. The finished tower, with its copper sails reminiscent of the yachts that sail here ( and the passion for yachting of the Premier of the time) and needle-like spire of green glass, allows the bells to be rung from a single platform -something they could never do in their old home in London. / / Taken using a Canon 350D, Sigma EX DC HSM 10-20mm, f/10 @ 25 seconds exposure, ISO 200. / / MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /

As we patiently awaited for the highly anticipated Australia Day 2007 fireworks, we were greeted by a rather unpleasant overcast and patchy sky, many thanks to the soaring 40C heat. Great sweat workout though. MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /

The Tian Tan Buddha appears serene and dignified. His right hand is raised, representing the removal of affliction. His left hand rests on his lap in a gesture of giving (dhana). The Buddha faces north which is unique among the great Buddha statues. (All others face South.) I’m not a very religious person, but I need to know where my religious background stands in my family. This place was definitely the eye opener. How do they even carry all the 250 tonne bronze to make a 34 metre high statue up there?! A remarkable achievement. Home Sweet Home. The Blue Boathouse, Mounts Bay Road, Perth. Western Australia. I’ve finally dragged my lazy feet to the Blue Boathouse down at Mounts Bay Road, Perth. Despite being a 20 minute drive by the freeway, I never seem to allocate the right time to visit this magnificient icon. It’s possibly one of the most photographed building in Western Australia, and I cannot object it anyway if it was. edits: Realigned, adjusted contrast/brightness. Colourwonderful! Mongkok is your one stop shop to anything from $AUD2 torchlights to $AUD5000 Canon EOS 1D Mk IIIs. It’s also your one stop destination to all Asian cuisines from the authentic Hong Kong-style Dim Sum right to Pizza Hut pizzas ($AUD25 each!) Hong Kong-style! I wished I took this shot from dead centre. And this was only half the street! I’d still think its impossible to take a shot from one end to the other though, even if you tried. John and I decided to be one of the first people to photograph the brand new sexy toy the Perth Wheel as of operation 9th Jan 2009. Sort of copied, ok copied from the hugely successful London Eye, the Perth Wheel it stands 50m high, can carry 284 passengers in 36 capsules. For $15 adults $10 children, you get to spend roughly 15 minutes on the wheel, which will do approximately three revolutions. There is even a VIP capsule which boasts leather seats, best to get clients stuck with you high in the sky to approve your business proposal in comfy leather seats and a plasma screen display. Operators are also expecting it to become popular for marriage proposals and birthday celebrations…oh and those girlfriend boyfriend stuff. Who said Perth cannot look like London huh? ;) MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO / - – / Shot settings: / Body: Canon EOS 350D / Lens: Sigma 10-20mm DC HSM EX / Shutter Speed: 35” / Focal Length: 13mm / Flash: Did not fire / ISO: 100 / Aperture value: f/8 / Add-ons: 77mm - Hoya Pro-1 CPL + ND8 filter

Perth skies have been rather enchanting these recent days. We’re getting awesome cloud cover for the past week…I’m always seen running out of the house checking the skies, running back in to wait, then running out again to check 5 minutes later. If this is not a timewaster already, I am furthermore really slacking from Uni work. Lecture and tutorial notes piling up, Pharmacy Business Plan almost nearing due date, workbook still literally empty, drug list not touched since last week’s visit. Oh well…at least today’s shot made my day =) I love Applecross.
