/ I snuck into this building where people were reading their newspapers and meeting other corporate people. It was an amazing building, library quiet too. Thanks Andymac, it’s the Commonwealth Bank Building in Collins Street.

/ / Another from the shoot today with Aleah. / Location: North Shore commercial complex, Geelong. / / / / Sony A200 This has become my most popular image by far! Thanks to all of you who have viewed/faved, I love this shot and it makes me so happy that others see the beauty and emotion in it :o)
Had a fantastic time at the abandoned Aradale Asylum, I think I’m cured, lol. Loads of thanks to everyone who was there for making it an incredibly great experience. Big thanks to Melissa Kirkham for organising this opportunity for us! Here’s a little experimenting I did with timelapse and long exposure in one of the hundreds of rooms there.
/ / / Reload of an older image… / / Model: Loki / Concept: Loki / Location: The old Aradale Asylum – Ararat, Victoria / This is an a fun shot that was taken at a weekend in Aradale’s old mental asylum, which has been closed down for about 20 years now. Loki was made up for a shoot that I took part in about a cow’s revenge on a butcher (I was the cow!). Neither had anything to do with mental illness or the Asylum’s history. Those themes were covered with different shots and write ups. Not all of the photographs were to do with Aradale’s history – a history which all of us appreciated and connected with whilst there. The blood was a home made recipe made up by the talented and passionate Jo O’Brien, it was very much non toxic and edible! / / / /
/ / / The team, the wall, the ciggy… At the MCG in after an Aussie Rules football game – Cats vs Saints (Semi final, 2008) / / / / /
/ / Thanks to ExplorerLoki for this clever, fascinating setting. Location: Old Aradale Asylum, Victoria, Australia
It keeps eternal whisperings around / Desolate shores, and with its mighty swell / Gluts twice ten thousand caverns, till the spell / Of Hecate leaves them their old shadowy sound. / Often ‘tis in such gentle temper found, / That scarcely will the very smallest shell / Be moved for days from whence it sometime fell, / When last the winds of heaven were unbound. / Oh ye! who have your eye-balls vexed and tired, / Feast them upon the wideness of the Sea; / Oh ye! whose ears are dinned with uproar rude, / Or fed too much with cloying melody, / Sit ye near some old cavern’s mouth, and brood / Until ye start, as if the sea-nymphs choired! Sonnet on the Sea / by John Keats (1795 β 1821) Painting in mixed media – 102cm x 42 cm 17th December 2008

/ / ... But I’m not the only one… / - John Lennon, “Imagine”. / /
Oil Painting…I painted this quite a few years ago (maybe 1995-1996). It is based on a detail from a famous painting but unfortunately I cannot remember what the name of the painting was or who the original artist was. My version of this painting was painted on 16”x12” canvas board. I’ve decided to name it ‘Ode to an Urn’ as it reminds me of my favourite poem. Ode on a Grecian Urn by John Keats / I also love one of his other ‘Odes’ Ode to a Nightingale ...if I could only find myself a nightingale. LOL! Featured in: Fine Arts Influenced by Literature – 14th March 2009. Featured in: Impressionist Art – 30th April 2009. Featured in: Creative Cards β 13th July 2009.
/ / / / / Neither are impressive without the other. / (especially in photography!) / / / Long exposure with tea lights in underground drain. /
A concept from a dream I had….. / “The Mad Hatters Tea Party” I contacted good friend and good sport Jane Keats and asked if she’d like to collaborate with me on this series. We hashed over a few ideas, got ourselves a heap of props, trudged through vile water and wandered through ink black tunnels to our Tea Party location. Lighting – 6 Tealights / 59 Sec / f4.5 / 17mm / ISO 100 / Processed in Lightroom w~ “Dave on the Hill 05” Preset + fiddling / Exported to Photoshop CS3 – Dodging/Burning/ Noise Reduction and minor Sharpening Shot at the same location as this
