One of my all time favourite sunset views is the view looking west from a small staff caravan park at Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort) towards the silhouette of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Taken in Central Australia. This is Uluru, I took this with my old Canon film camera a while back and converted it to sepia using Ulead 13 software, I’m not sure of the result so I thought I’d leave it to the judgement of the good people of RB to offer their opinions. Kata Tjuta, known also as The Olgas. Kata Tjuta is the Aboriginal name, which means “many heads’. It is a group of more than 30 rounded red domes rising from the desert floor. The tallest is said to be around 546 metres high. Kata Tjuta is about 30 kilometres west of Uluru. An amazing place to explore, magnificent scenery in every direction. For an online painting-challenge, we where asked to make an image that would represent Australia! / It interested me, but did not know exactly how I would do it! / I ended up on the site of a couple of Globetrotters! http://www.bourlingueurs.com/ / I scrutinized their photos and found 2 who appealed me very much! / One of Ayers Rock , and one of a crashed car in the middle of the dessert! / I melted them together to one photo! / Mark warned me that I painted “Kata Tjuta” instead of “Ayers Rock”! The representation of this mountain and that derelict car described in my mind how I see Australia! / Beautiful nature and heritage nurtured by the Aboriginals, and the car representing the pioneers, adventurers and technology trying to find its place in that great big continent! This is a picture taken in the Kata Tjuta National Park Northern Territory Australia. The rock formation is known as The Olgas, and is an historical landmark espicially for the native Abborigials, the men used this sight to teach their sons and was a place of initiation for young boys. Uluru is located in the same national park just 30 kilometers east.
