Karijini is a national park in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. It is known for its rugged hills and amazing gorges.
A deep, cold pool down in the bowels of Hancock Gorge. Not much sun gets down here due to the high, narrow walls of the gorge.
A small waterfall cascades down into a cold plunge pool deep inside Hancock Gorge, Karijini National Park, Western Australia.
A small whirlpool is created by running water cascading down the narrow confines of Hancock Gorge, Karijini National Park, Western Australia.

Sunrise at Karijini National Park, Western Australia Canon EOS 1000d DSLR
Taken at Hancock Gorge in Karijini National Park/Western Australia. The spider walk leads to Kermits Pool. You walk down here with your feet on either side of the chasm supported by your hands like a spider. (Add a Manfrotto tripod and 10kgs of camera equipment and it gets quite challenging). Acrylic on Canvas – 125×60cm Painted June 2009 – Carmen Cilliers My abstract version of the gorge.
The sun was still quite low when I was passing through this section of Hancock Gorge, just high enough to illuminate the wall opposite the little creek causing wonderful golden reflections on the highly polished rocks. / Location: Karijini National Park, Western Australia Equipment: CANON 5D, CANON 85 f1.8, 25sec@ f16 Framing suggestion: / Image was featured in Western Australia © aabz-imaging / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
The end of a journey through Hancock Gorge past Kermits Pool – to proceed further here you would need some abseiling equipment. / (Although this image was shot in RAW and has been processed in Lightroom it is NOT ‘photoshopped’! These are actual colours created by the reflection of indirect sunlight from the walls of the gorges in a long exposure shot.) The incredible Hancock Gorge in Karijini National Park. Very difficult to do this amazing location justice, the colours are beyond belief. Heavy rains had fallen two days beforehand hence the dirty water in the pools, you have to be cautious of flash flooding. Three shot vertical stitch Canon 40D.
This is the amazing Handrail Pool near the end of Weano Gorge in Karijini NP. In the late afternoon, the light reverberates around the pool wall 100 metres high giving an other worldly glow, words cannot describe this place. Three shot stitch Canon 40D, handrail and rope cloned out in photoshop. I will return there one day with my 5D MK11 and try to do this location justice.
