One of my favourite old Japanese sayings / “七”- seven,”転”-fall over,”八”-eight,”起”-get up I was reading Paulo Coelho’s “The Alchemist”. / He wrote in the introduction of the book - / “When we first begin fighting for our dream, we have no experience and make many mistakes. The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.”

The oni is a Japanese folkore character that takes on a variety of visual forms and can have just as many symbolic meanings. for example, they are used to ward away bad luck, much as gargoyles in Western tradition, and are commonly used in buildings. My design took its own direction and the oni pictured seems to have become tangled up with an octopus! Scotty /
