Thank you to the people who decided to feature Cooking Kaleidoscope, minutes after I posted it. xD / Also featured in ** Super Macro Photography (May 2009), Just Pure Nature (2009), Outsiders (2009), Natural Textures (2009) and The Compact Group (June 2009). Cooking Kaleidoscope was included in the top ten of the That’s Entertainment! group’s Monotone Challenge and the 1620 group’s how you look at water… Challenge. dancing spirits of the wood work done in PaintShopPro and Gimp KTSQ08-1-0-21
This was created from a photograph of a barberry bush with the afternoon sun coming through its leaves. You can view the photo and details of the pattern in my blog entry on this pattern. Each of the pieces of the pattern has a reflection of itself on every edge, so it seems continuous throughout, but not all the pieces are the same shape, which keeps it from being too repetitive. There are areas with 16, 12, and 8 sides, with transitional elements in between to connect them up. I hope to interest someone in making gift wrap from patterns like this some day.

Best Viewed Large All Rights Reserved / @ Julia Wright Native Son I’ve seen many moons through these wrinkled eyes / The years have made me old but they’ve made me wise / Now the white man lives where our rivers run For now better days have passed / We walk the streets of broken glass / Our people vanished as snow before the summer sun / Like dogs we were driven from this place / Such injustice, time will not erase / All these changes cannot be undone When you feel the anger inside of you / Hold your head high – let your aim be true / Though your heart beats like a drum / My native son Once there was a time my little one / Before the wagons – before the soldiers’ guns / When this land was ours as far as the eagle flies No white flag – no broken truce / With few words one can speak the truth – I don’t hear it / Time won’t heal it now With each new day that comes to pass / Will the great spirit free us all at last? / He said we were the chosen ones For all we had there’s nothin’ left / We won’t forgive – we can’t forget / You know that your day will come / My native son With each new day that comes to pass / Will the great spirit free us all at last? / What has happened can never be undone When I was young – not yet a man / The sun rose and set upon our land / We were the chosen ones / My native son

I started a log in the fireplace .. should warm us up a bit … anything to drink? ... please be comfortable … I rarely get company nowadays … people are beginning to think I’m becoming a recluse .. lol … I think they just don’t like coming out here .. too far off the beaten path …..... a little music? good … ah let’s see … how about Sergei Rachmaninoff playing his 2nd piano concerto in c minor ... so very nice for a night like this …. oh it’s his recording with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra … think it was directed by Leopold Stokowski … you remember him don’t you? he was oh how would you say .. oh so theatrical and bit of a renegade … I so loved to watch him wave his hands around lol … and I so love this concerto … I choose it on purpose .. you must know that .. yes? ah yes … yes it was .. we went together .. oh what an elegant pair we made .. or so we thought lol …. ah it seems just like yesterday .. the years certainly have flown by …. do you remember how when we met Sergei after the concert .. how he went on and on about feeling and creating from the heart? he was so passionate about his work … not like Prokofiev … remember what Sergei said of Prokofiev? lol … he does not exalt .. he broods … lol ….... all that and with that delightful Russian accent ….... what a night that was ….. where did we go after that? I can’t seem to remember …. we did? over to Dottie’s? oh yes now I remember … that god awful boring party of hers … bunch of stuffed shirts .. lol … Mr. and Mrs. Roger Higgersfeld …. oh my yes I remember now .. the old baffoon … keep talking on and on and on about politics and to the point that even Sir Jeffrey was beginning to yawn … wonder what ever happened to him … last I heard he was off to Bavaria or some such place … another drink? could you put another log on the fire for me please … it is quite chilly out tonite …. here’s your drink, deary … ah yes that really was a great concert … yes listening to it does bring back so many memories …. listen … the theme is played here again … there is a yearning yes? ... oh yes I so agree .. there is hope too … and when all else fails there is always hope … / . / — / . / suggest if you’ve read this far that you read all the comments and my replies … you’ll find out what happened to Sir Jeffrey and what the shawl was designed after (big smile) .. and who know what other tidbits you might find (grin) / . / This is the another in a series of Shawls I’ve been working on with stories to go along with these images like this mini story (big smile) ... no critique asked for .. it’s not perfect but I hope it pleases you while you listen to the music and view my work (big smile) Work done in PaintShopPro and Gimp.
