  • On a walk in the Indian Himalayas, this tree presented itself in the distance. In a surreal moment, I prostrated myself before the Daliesque ‘corkscrew’ shrubbery and prayed for a decent shot.

  • Harley riders traverse mid west USA on their fire breathing, mechanical chariots. / Flaunting stereotype they are more often white collar wanderers than barnstorming bikies. Freedom and the pursuit of it is an American obsession. Considered a right it attracts pilgrims from east to west, north to south. Juxtaposed against breathtaking scenery they demonstrate modernity on an ancient stage. As they pursue the most contemporary of quests for that ageless holy grail – freedom.

  • With such a flat landscape and few trees to soak up the water the Shire of Quairading has many floodways to contend with, as do drivers trying to get from one place to another in the wet season. This picture was taken after an hour of rain had fell. Had I waited another half hour or so the road would have been flooded for sure and I would have been stranded in the middle of nowhere.

  • Mist over Lakes Entrance, Victoria.

  • This photo is only about ten years old, even though it looks as though it is from the 1940s. It is actually the cast from a play called “The Ghost Train” shot at a Museum in Manchester. We initially tried a shot with the cast just walking down the platform, but it didn’t really work. Then someone said, “Let’s all stick our heads out of the windows” and then suddenly it did!

  • far journeys

  • A place to relax and smell the fresh sea air, a place to think about the rest of the day or the rest of your life. The California Coast, Santa Cruz

  • This group of cabins would absolutely be my “dream home” if the owner would ever let me have them. :)

  • I don’t anticipate travelling there but you never know!

  • From the fine art photography of Wendy Bandurski-Miller The Mist decends…..... reminiscent of the pastoral imagery Pope creates in his poetry (at least to my perceptions)........and why it was a subject for his work…..really hard to ignore the change in atmosphere.

  • This is an acyrilic painting which is the impression I have when we travelled “the back way” to Woodford to see the Woodford Folk Festival. It was a sunny clear day but had lots of beautiful shadowed clouds. Also the road kept going through scattered trees so the effect was one of alternating lightness and darkness.

  • The fawn was watching the squirrel intently, wishing he could come down from the high branches and play with her! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Algonquin Park

  • The young buck showed his serious face for his spring “passport photo” as his new antlers have not yet out. :)

  • a roller coaster ride of colors and dreams / of lows and highs / mixed with joys and sighs

  • From my collection: / Historic Hawaiian Bridges and Streams In the beautiful rainforest of Hana in a remote area on a private road below the Hana Highway, this is lower Mokulehua as it flows through Ulaino to the ocean nearby. It is so good to see water flowing in the stream today. / The Kanaka, Hawaiian families depend on this water. / In this stream are fresh water Shrimp we call Opai, fresh water fish we call O’opu, which is similar to a catfish, fresh water prawns, a larger Shrimp, fresh water Opihi called Hihiwai. And where Mokulehua enters the ocean it is called Poponi / This area is private land and one must have permission to enter. It is our wish that the streamflow will be restored to East Maui and the historic bridges of Maui will be preserved. Upcountry from here on the Hana Highway, the oldest bridge on Maui at Mokulehua was built in 1908, one of the bridges on the parts of Maui’s Hana Highway with historic designations (on the Federal Register of Historic Places, and in 1999 also named a National Millenium Legacy Trail). Those portions include most of state route 360 between Ha’iku and Hana, and part of county route 31 between Hana and Kipahulu, along Maui’s northeast coast. © 2009 Fine Art Photography by Sharon Mau On the Road to Hana This photograph cannot be modified for commercial or advertising use, nor can it be copied or reproduced in any form without the photographer’s permission. • Onwards it travels, to where, it does not care anymore? Acrylic and ink on canvas board 20×20. / Copyright mark cox 2009.

  • My youngest daughter, here almost 8 months old.

  • Grytviken, South Georgia. An old Norwegian whaling town, most of this no longer stands, but it is still an incredibly important historic stop off if one happens to be passing by! Shackleton’s saved the Endurance crew by landing here after several gruelling months at sea in his life boat… trekked over from the other side of the island to find help – and legend has it he slid down the mountainside on his backside to end up in the grimy whale-oil slicked alleys of this remote town, all nearly 100 years ago. / This shot was taken with my old, medium format Pentax (120mm) from one of Frank Hurley’s viewpoints, though he continued up the mountain behind me with a heavy old tripod and plate camera and shot an even higher perspective on this amazing scene. He was a legendary photographer.

  • departing Pulau Langkawi, heading back to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia..

  • a digital abstract done in PSP X. meditation… meditating… travelling through space, galaxies… through time.. nothing can stop me.. nothing can disturb me.. i am a free spirit.. i can fly….....
