Most know of Pakistan as a third world fanatical Muslim country full of terrorists. I have lived in Pakistan, my parents were born and raised there and though it has its many faults it also has its many beauties, its many treasures and many things that I love and cherish. At Work is a picture of my maid, Sakina in her small and modest home where I captured her hands as she used two rocks to grind herbs and spices to make that nights meal. This is a method still used in homes where a mechanical grinder is a luxury and not a necessity. According to Sakina and her mother, herbs ground on a rock maintain the rich flavors that are often lost by all our machines.

Looking for a ‘check list’ or ‘running sheet’ for your next exhibition? Thanks to the power of google.com, and a spare hour on a Saturday afternoon of sporadic rain, I found a few PDF’s that should help you: Events Management Check List ... I really like this one! It’s comprehensive, has tick-boxes, and could easily be modified to suit any type of event. Running, Promoting and Organsing your Event / ... Page 1 to 17 have great information on setting up and ensuring your t’s are crossed and i’s are dotted. Page 18 to 20 are the pages you want to print! Club/Association Management Program / ... This is a most extensive booklet (36 pages) outlining EVERYTHING about exhibition running. Whilst it is aimed at sport clubs, the information is easily transferable to anyone’s exhibition. Page 19 says … / ” It is essential that an event has an evaluation process that is more than simply monitoring the planning and implementation. Evaluation should be carried out through the life of the event as well as at the end. Information recorded from monitoring provides a record and can be kept as a historical record for events that are held regularly. Criteria for success, and methods for measuring those criteria, need to be set when the event is first planned. Measures depend on the important questions to be answered. Questions may have to do with attendances, quality of staff, revenue, public opinion and press coverage. Methods for obtaining the information needed to answer the questions might include statistics for attendance, questionnaires from participants and spectators, and financial records. “ Survival Guide to Event Management / ... Another long-winded yet comprehensive (56 page) PDF that has a lot of useful information. Visit these pages for the details you really want: 9, 16, 24, 27, 32, 36-37. But you MUST read every other page in conjunction to get an overall and complete view of how to run your exhibition properly and successfully! Submission form for Major Events / Activities in Adelaide / ... Maybe your exhibition is SOOOO BIG that you need to fill this in. Event Guidelines / ... This could easily have been ripped off from any one of the suggested PDF’s above, but it still has some interesting information. You’ll want pages 21 to 24.

Camera maintenance is an important habit to get into, but of course no one has to be too meticulous about it. Hell, housework is certainly not my strong point. This morning I gave my baby (Canon 20D) a spruce up. I thought it was perfect timing with the sun shining and a stunning blue sky – just as you’d expect in Melbourne. Of course at time of writing the clouds have rolled in to provide a diffusing effect to the scenery. :) The camera sensor was due for a little dust removal. So, off I toddled with the 50mm prime lens attached and I set the camera to manual mode and proceeded to take exposures at F/22. F/22 is perfect for revealing those dust bunnies. You know the one’s, those darn spots we remove in photoshop and are a right pain in the ass. What fun – not. Anyway, I soon found a big dust bunny had come to the party. The bloody thing was bigger than Bugs Bunny. Huh, that big bugger was in fact on the rear lens element, so after a few exposures rocket science (a brain wave) soon dictated that he/she had to be exterminated with a quick wipe with a soft lens cloth. Done. Onwards we go to a little fiddling in photoshop and a play with the auto levels option. That was interesting to say the least and clearly revealed those dastardly bunnies at their worst. After a few goes at exterminating them I have a relatively clean baby all ready to take for a spin. Above – Sensor before cleaning Above – Sensor after cleaning Above – Sensor before cleaning with auto levels adjustment in Photoshop Above – Sensor after cleaning with auto levels adjustment in Photoshop I use the Copper Hill kit products as supplied by Quality Cameras in Perth. I have no affiliation with them, but can recommend their prompt and courteous service and cleaning kit products. Of course I couldn’t get rid of all the bunnies, so I suspect the mummy and daddy bunny will make more little bunnies for me to exterminate in the future. Those rascally rabbits. Some great info here to assist. / http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning And this is the way I do it. / http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/image/71784128 Advice articles can be found on my site here

Update 06 December 2009 Important NOTICE / / I want the option of turning off the “share” features on RedBubble. / To say this new feature is annoying is an understatement, especially since it was recently added without my knowledge or agreement. / On another subject: I discovered today a “social bookmarking site for pictures” ..... An extension allows someone to post an image to their account by right clicking on it.” / / At the bottom of the page there is a tab which asks / “Do you have any questions, bug reports or wishes?” / So, I clicked on that and reported my request for my images to be removed. Any tips on preventing this? I thought we had right/click protection on this site! / / Occasionally, depending upon how busy I am, I search for myself on the internet using various search engines available. It is always interesting to see what appears, what is unrelated to me, and what is attached to my name, and I have learned to be wary and careful of which websites to open, for there are some in other countries which actually are more like land mines raising all manner of red flags with my computer security software. / / Even so, I conducted a search today, a rather extensive search using my name and certain keywords. And I discovered this webpage with my image, along with many other photographers and artists. I can tell you I am very upset that so many people on the internet so blatantly ignore my copyright notice. This member does not have my permission to reproduce my image in their collection of “Favourites”. It is outrageous that we have no control over our imagery and how it is copy/pasted, downloaded/shared ….... / / You may wish to have a look at this webpage to see if your images are here as well. Some I recognise from artists here on RedBubble and some look very familiar. I am sending a request for the website to delete and immediately remove my copyrighted work/s from their site. It does not matter to me that this person links my image back to my RedBubble site, I do not like the share feature and seeing my imagery on another website without my prior written authorization. As a member of RedBubble we should have the option of whether or not we wish to share our content. / / You may open this link to view the images this person has “collected” and gleaned from the internet. / vi.sualize.us / / Here is the code for the my image, which is completely different from my own image, found in the properties of the “shared” image. / http://img1.visualizeus.com/thumbs/09/04/02/beach,beauty,ocean,sea,torrent-c2ee3bfa23547fb2d111613f9d9b23bf_h.jpg / / As clearly stated on the front page of my portfolio:* / I own full and exclusive copyrights on all my photographs, digital art and images on this website and they are protected under International Copyright laws.
