It was Mother’s Day when we went to San Juan Atitan, in the hills of northern Guatemala. They take it pretty seriously up there. Fiesta country. Everybody- bar nobody (except us visitors)- was dressed in these fantastic outfits- brown woolen vests, purple and maroon and red shirts, the men in white dress pants and straw boaters. It was a sight to see en-masse, hundreds of them gathered in the plaza, all in a festive mood. Jorge works for us as a development worker in his own communities, helping mobilize families in the various long-term projects we carry out up here. He smiled a lot more than this, but the moment the camera went in his direction, he looked very serious. But that is one snazzy outfit he has. I think the next time I go I’ll have to get one of my own… :o) May 2007.

jorg the mute is his name, torture is his game. jorg is another rogue hunter, whose talents are as deadly as they are exquisitely painful… he amputated his left arm just so he could afix a plasmic blow torch to him?!? rumor has it that he also pulled his teeth and ripped out his tongue, attaching a metal dish to his mouth, to give his visage a more maniacal look!

Echo was a nymph who was a great singer and dancer and scorned the love of any man. This angered Pan, a lecherous god, and he instructed his followers to kill her. Echo was torn to pieces and spread all over earth. The goddess of the earth, Gaia, received the pieces of Echo, whose voice remains repeating the last words of others.
