  • School's Out
    by Joanne Bradley

    US$3.99–US$106.40

Taken at Kempenfelt Bay, Lake Simcoe, Barrie, Ontario Canada on Monday June 2nd/08. Leaning over the docks I noticed this school of minnows that kept dispersing and rejoining in intricate patterns in the water. My husband did not think I should upload this to RB but I find it an interesting abstract of the underwater world. Looking forward to your comments or lack of them! :-)

  • Circle of Life
    by Joanne Bradley

    US$3.99–US$33.25

Taken in the late winter/early spring of 2005 with a Canon A75 at a boardwalk in the town of Ste-Marthe-sur-le-lac, Québec. This town is located next door to the one I live in, on the north shore, opposite the island of Montreal.  Although I could see the arc of the trees when I took the shot and that is what I was aiming to capture, it was an extremely sunny day and I did not anticipate that the circle would be completed with the reflection… / / Featured in Everything Winter and Trees groups.

  • Serendipity
    by Joanne Bradley

    US$3.99–US$106.40

On a visit to the Jardin Botanique in Montreal I was captivated by the Chinese Garden. Various ponds and streams had huge floating islands of lily pads. But it was not until I rested that I discovered these two lily pads and the reflections, just over the side of the bench I was sitting on. Taken in macro mode. “Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather it is a tapestry of acts that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.” -from the movie Serendipity Featured in the Abstracts From Nature group July 2008.

Taken on the Lake of Two Mountains, Quebec in the village of Oka on Monday June 9/08. This is just past the public docks and ferry system looking towards the west at the marina. The sun was just starting to descend and cast a rosy glow on the water. Featured in Stillness Speaks group.

Orchidée, which is French for orchid. / Taken in macro mode with my faithful Canon A75. I was really surprised this morning to discover that the bloom had opened during the night. That is how quickly the change was from one day to another. Flower shot in front of a window to let the light illuminate it from the back.

  • Pendle Newchurch
    by Joanne Marie Shaw

    US$3.99–US$106.40

Acrylic and oil landscape. Pendle Witch Country, in the Lancashire Pennines, is an area lying between (but also including) the north western edge of Bronte Country and the Ribble Valley, to the north and north east of which are Bowland, and the south western Yorkshire Dales respectively. The area is dominated by the dark brooding mass of Pendle Hill (shown above) and made famous (nay infamous) for its grim and fiendish association with the “Witches of Pendle”... Pendle, old Pendle, thou standest alone. / Twixt Burnley and Clitheroe, Whalley and Colne, / Where Hodder and Ribble’s fair waters do meet / With Barley and Downham content at thy feet. Pendle, old Pendle, majestic, sublime / Thy praises shall ring till the end of all time / Thy beauty eternal, thy banner unfurled, / Th’art dearest and grandest old hill in the world When witches fly out on a dark rainy night, / We’ll not tell a soul, and we’ll bar the door tight, / We’ll sit near to t’ fire, and keep ourselves warm / Until once again we can walk on thy arm. Pendle, old Pendle, by moorland and fell / In glory and loveliness, ever to dwell / On life’s faithful journey, where e’er I may be, / I’ll pause in my labours, and oft think of thee. Milton Allen

  • Olympic Stadium
    by Joanne Bradley

    US$3.99–US$106.40

The Jardin Botanique, in Montreal Canada, is located right beside this infamous structure and I couldn’t help myself. I understand after a few years of closure that the elevator is now functioning again, so I plan a trip to the top in the fall. Haven’t been up there in years… The Olympic Stadium [1] (French: Stade olympique) is a multi-purpose stadium in Montreal, Quebec, Canada built as the main venue for the 1976 Summer Olympics. It subsequently became the home of Montreal’s professional baseball and Canadian football teams. Since the Montreal Expos relocated to Washington, D.C. in 2004 (and prior, the Montreal Alouettes second departure in 1997), the stadium has had no main tenant, and with a history of financial and structural problems, is largely seen as a white elephant. It currently serves as a 56,040-seat multipurpose facility for special events (e.g. concerts, trade shows) during non-winter months, and continues to serve as a venue for Grey Cup games hosted by the Montreal Alouettes. La tour de Montreal, the tower incorporated into the base of the stadium, is the tallest inclined tower in the world at 175 metres, and is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers. / -Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • Celestial Beacon
    by Joanne Bradley

    US$3.99–US$106.40

My husband particularly liked this shot! The clouds had darkened considerably and all of a sudden a small opening appeared, right above the steeples, as if the heavens were sending a ray of sunshine to us below. “A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” Albert Einstein Featured in the Stillness Speaks group.
